It seems that FIFA have relented. Poppies will be allowed. The rule is well intended. Imagine if Syria had images on their shirts encouraging people to join Isis. We'd be up in arms about that. The ban on symbols was across the board but now it seems that sense has prevailed and each case will be assessed on it's merits.
I am ready, are you? Sheffield here we come. |

I did my volunteering yesterday, god bless the public generous to a fault. Interestingly I was approached by 3 people who were buying poppies because their boss had banned them. I guess it was their retort. Wearing a poppy is a personal choice and I am not offended if someone chooses not to but please respect my right to do so. I was against the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan but I support the troops not the politicians who send them. With regards to James Mclean of course it is his right not to. Although I would point out to him that thousands of Irish from both sides of the border and both communities volunteered especially in WWII. Whilst his fellow countrymen were fighting the greatest evil and threat to democracy his friends in the IRA were allies of the Nazis. Anyway back to the reason I started this thread. I hope tomorrow that Palace are wearing the poppy. If not I would be interested to know why?

They did not have equal voting right with Unionists were banned the shipyards and the other major employers just like black people in the Southern states of the USA. What democracy were the Indian troops in the British army in World War Two defending?
