Me, a vegan???!!??? Fair play to you. Truth is I could post a lot more as its rarely discussed in mainstream media and is mostly covered up. Most people post regularly about the left or right in politics and thats irritable so I try to haul it in but hey I thought, in my completely unbiased opinion(!!??!!) It was a good advert. As for peta I dont particularly like them meself but thought the ad was a good un.

I don't think it needs to be discussed in the media, it's a personal choice after all but it certainly gets enough mentions on most food based TV shows. Meat eaters don't try to persuade non-meat eaters to change, so I don't know why veggies or vegans seem to need to do so?

PETA wind me up, most of their protests amount to vandalism, so I won't be upping their views despite the recommendation.

And I don't think they are looking at their other posts.

Are you suggesting that Sewer Rat may not be Raquel Siganporia the Spinal Injuries Lawyer?

Strange that she spends her time peeling potatoes and posting on here.

I could be wrong.... I was once before in the early 90's.

Animal welfare. They don't have a voice with regard to their treatment so others lobby for them which seems entirely appropriate.

Quite a bizarre profile isn't it.

It overwhelmingly has the opposite effect, as you can see on the hol from replies to those espousing the perils of meat.

One same kind of thing, Maddie was one of the best meals I ever had.

Makes one wonder then how millions more are veggie now than compared with the 70's? Something turned them/me.

How would you know? The world and it's wife couldn't tell anyone back then, unless it was face to face at dinner.

But seriously, you couldn't get the range of produce then that you can now and certainly not the range of choice that is vegetarian. Linda McCartney didn't start until the 90s, Quorn was the 80s etc.

There was a Peckham-wide exhibition on last weekend. When I got back to Peckham Rye after the football on Sat, they were doing live Blood-Letting in the barbers near Barry's Cafe.

Then on Sunday, after being amazed and grossed out by an Iron compass needle smelted from Human placentas, I was offered scones with (cooked) human blood in them at a live Art performance. It was all about the treatment of Aborigines in Australia, and British Colonialism. For about 10 minutes I decided to be Vegetarian. My Vegetarian friend on the other hand, who didn't read the info card put on the table in front of us nearly broke his 20year 'VeggiePledge' by eating human. I should never have warned him.

The media was on to it big time back in the 80's but not in a good way. "The Most Dangerous Man in Britain" daft headline award goes to one of The Red Tops. That was directed at Ian Bone of the... Animal Liberation Front.

Hysterical. In more ways than one. But animal welfare was very much a right v left (again) agenda back then amongst everything else that was also polarised thanks to Messr Mackenzie and Murdoch.

And you're right. The veggie food on offer was hideous until the late 80's.

Not because he was a veggie though, because they were a bunch of violent t***s and they do some spectacularly nasty things to people still. Vandalism, arson, stalking, intimidation, burglary etc.

I would say improvement in choice has had a far greater effect of the numbers, than the veggies wore me down man.
