Pardew - saved us from relegation, 2nd highest ever top flight finish, almost won us the FA Cup Final.....Hold on, what is Pardew doing on a list of worst ever managers??

Malcolm Allison. Took us from Div 1 to Div 3 (although he can't really be blamed for the first relegation).

On the up side though he got us playing some lovely football, got us to semi final of the FA Cup and sowed the seeds for our rise in the late 70s.

Our worst managers made some below average managers look much better than they really are. I would put in some names but the list will be extremely long.

I'm not sure too many are familiar with Dario Gradi. He was a youth team manager and help promote a very useful production line. Palace were left in the lurch when Venables left and after thevreserve bosx, Keith Whalley had a go, Gradi volunteered a go. He was in charge for a couple of games, kept things tidy for Steve Kember to come in.
Gradi left to rake over at Crewe where I believe he still is, but has retired as manager after 30 odd years, a remarkable achievement. He produced David Platt, our own England captain, Geoff Thomas, and several other players who played internationals. There is no doubt if he had a better press at desperate Palace he would have been the equivalent of Bert Head.
Do not denigrate this man.

How has Venables (well 2nd time around) not been mentioned? Left us Matt Jansen and fan Zhiyi...

Or was Jansen and Ron Noades/Ray Lewington signing?
