IMO - we need to win minimum 4 of the next 8 games;

Everton (H)
Stoke (H)
Brighton - must win this..!!
West Brom
Bournemouth (H)
Watford (H)
Leicester

If I was Roy looking at the way we are playing and full credit to him and Ray Lew - the way they have changed things around - I would be saying there is no reason we can't take 15 points out of this run of fixtures.

This is our defining point of the season, get on a run here and we will be good.

COYP..!!

That's either 5 wins from 7 games or 4 wins and 3 draws from these games.I really cannot see us getting this.

Everton have won today coming from 2-0 down so this will give them some confidence, besides they might have a new manager when they play us.

By the end of these 7 games, it might, in effect, be all over for us.

Don't worry about Everton. Given how good their teams are, Everton and West Ham will surely recover. It's only been 11 matches, there are 27 to go. They'll have no problem avoiding relegation (they have goalscorers and assisters like Chicharito, Lanzini, Rooney, Sigurdsson etc ). Neither will Leicester go down. And....the ONE team which has taken an important option to avoid relegation is Burnley.
That leaves 10 teams for the 3 spots: Palace, Swansea, Bournemouth, West Brom, Stoke, Southampton (surprisingly, they have big problems scoring), Newcastle, Huddersfield, Watford, Brighton.

At the way things are looking.......Palace and Swansea need a miracle, while the others are battling it out to avoid that 3rd place going down. Watford and Newcastle look especially strong. West Brom is always good at counter attacking.
Though odds for Palace, cause we're just too much behind already

From our perspective it is starting to look that way.
We might need snookers soon.
Deeply worrying.

Not looked at the table after this week's results but last week worked out that after today we would've played 9 of the top 11 teams in 11 games. On that basis we shd really be expecting(!) to pick up points against some of the lower-placed sides whch we still have to play. Here's hoping....

i wont pretend everythings fine as its far from fine.

the situation is were bottom, and the reality is were 6 points from safety with almost the entire top half of last years top 8 played after 11 games.

in the last month weve played like a top 10 team, if we were playibg like a team 6 points adrift i would be worried, it will probably take til the last few games to see us safe, but im sure we will be.

also cabaye is the nuts & has been since he joined us, any critisism has purely been because of his reputation when he joined us,

I wasn't blaming the keeper for the goal today - mainly because I haven't seen it yet. My point was that regardless of whether you favour Speroni or Hennessey, we haven't had a clean sheet all season, and I can't remember the last MOTM performance by our keeper (perhaps Chelsea away?) - they're certainly rare. It always seems that the opposition keeper plays out of his skin against us.

yes agree they choose us for there one off games, but i sooner see our midfield/attack getting MOTM than be worried about our keepers keeping clean sheets not saying its not important, but goals for is more of a problem, we are keeping the numbers down at the moment for conceding, looking at our results 1 goal away for 5 points extra, in 5 games that we lost to nil. thats were the big problem is

Just read through all 4 pages and I think there are just one or two responses to the OP. C'mon guys stay on page, the OP is questioning Cabaye's field position. My answer to this is that RLC is strong in that forward playing midfield position and as a youngster will have the legs over Cabaye, therefore I think Cabaye in the middle of the park with Luka behind him makes more sense than in an advanced position. This is not to say that he won't have opportunities to get forward.

Hmm.. I don't think this is the influencing factor.

We were very unlucky against Spurs.

Great result and performance against Chelsea.

My concern is the match v West Ham. We were either very lucky or unlucky depending on how you viewed this.

However, my concern going forward is how we start our home games. If we start like we did against Chelsea fine but if we mirror the first half performance of that against West Ham, we're going to have problems again.

We definitely need to get our starting mentality right for our home games to have any chance of getting out of this mess.

No. Yo has been at his best when he can control our buildup from deeper while having Luka behind him to mop up. He also has his scrappy doo side of the game in interceptions and whatnot that I wouldn't trust RLC or someone to emulate. He's the player with the best passing range and vision in our team and I think he contributes most in the middle third. We would miss a player of his quality there if we moved him up between the lines

just ask Big Sam how you get the best from him...

Thanks for the on point response. However, I see Cabaye as having the legs over RLC, even though he's older. He runs more, recovers more, fights more. RLC seems a bit lazy to me. Cabaye strikes me as one of the most battle willing players. Course, he lacks the size, but his stamina used to be great and still is. Kind of like Coutinho's or Iniesta's
