Lets face it, SA saved us from relegation last season, and I doubt whether anyone else could have. He is a really excellent manager. The only problem is he will do an equally good job for Everton. We needed Everton to have appointed a really c... manager to maximise their chances of relegation, and they havn’t. .

Absolutely, just like the baggies have just done

I fully expect Everton to survive now - and i hope over the next few seasons he can push them forward. I still have doubts that he can, but my point is that this is the chance he was looking for.

I still believe that he was being honest when he left us, and the fact that he turned down a lot of clubs, but was interested in this one only, only strengthens this view IMO - It was probably the only job he would have taken.

I am surprised how short is the memory in the football society in the modern day. One year ago blame in corruption - sack by FA. Six months ago retired from club football. He is the man which word don't worth it a broken penny. Good luck to Everton. And don't forget it's always first time in the life for everything.

Having just sacked the other 'relegation fight specialist'. Any money on Pulis being the next Swansea manager? I believe he's had 'previous' west of Offa's Dyke.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

Going to find this an absolute doddle. Struggled at Palace to get lesser players to understand his instructions and training. Also unfit and a bad overall football structure in place.

Used all his experience to slowly build. Now at Everton with a far superior team and structure, he just sits in the stands and they turn it on to go 2-0 up against West Ham.

I reckon top 10 this season and pushing Europe next. Could of been us had we funded him.

Would sooner he went there than to someone who really was in trouble.

Wow!!

The fat one's presence in the stands tonight made Everton look like world beaters as they move up to 15th place.

Everton are clearly safe in Sam's hands and when do we get our £2m???

In a nut shell he likes money and has no obligation to palace despite us giving him redemption. Would he have been offered the Everton job if he hadn’t been at Palace? Doubt a club that size would have taken the PR risk of appointing sacked shamed ex England manager. Grateful for what he did at palace though and suited both parties. He is someone with a very high opinion of himself. Rightly so as a manger, wrongly so as a humble gentleman. No hard feelings but the whole “done with club management” was always bull. He was smart enough to know that a bigger club desperate with more money would come calling.

Definitely the best result for us tonight - Everton have a good squad that will never go down with Allardyce, whereas West Ham need to carry on falling.

Plus losses for Huddersfield, Swansea, Stoke and Bournemouth.

“I like Sam a lot. There are things that have changed for him since he left us and where the job is and the opportunity it is, it is a very, very difficult one for him to turn down.“

Wonder what things have changed for him? A little cryptic from Parish. Maybe that he now lives up north!
