Proportional representation is more democratic, that's always been the case.....but it's a useless system for getting anything done. It's the compromise system of government that metaphorically designs donkeys to do the job of horses.

I expect my politicians to be able to discuss and compromise, whilst representing their constituents. They're adults, and should be capable of establishing policy based all the people they're representing, rather than just those who voted for them. My only issue with the Lib Dems was that they buckled for the Alternative Vote, rather than holding out for proportional representation.

Its fairer than a dictatorship, but its a useless system for getting anything done. One can argue that the harder it is to get something done, the more representative your political system is Although that said, plenty of countries do seem to manage with a system of proportional representation.

The problem is of course no one talked about consequences on the leave campaign, except to dismiss them as remainer nonsense, whilst no one on the remain campaign talked about consequences of staying except to dismiss them as brexiter nonsense. So you now have a situation where the expectation is to deliver on unrealistic expectations. The trouble is there isn't a viable alternative.
