With Tekkers back we need to go 4-2-3-1 in order to play him as the 10.
Problem is many on here are already calling him lazy, basically because he plays like RLC and doesn't tear around like Kante. Well he's in good company, Berbatov, Fabregas, Ozil, Benteke and others over the years, slated for not tearing around like lunatics. Is anyone ever gonna realise that skilful players tend to be the ones who look languid.
Plus lets concentrate on what he can do instead of the good old fashioned English default of what he can't do.

JS
Ward, Dann, Sakho, TFM,
Andros, Cabaye, Luka, Zaha
RLC (no10 role)
Benteke

Yeah this looks far more balanced than my attempt.

Yep. Only I'd prefer TFM at right back and a left footed LB.

Thing is, after reading a bit of the BBS earlier, someone sensibly mentioned Cheek coming in and starting and change of formation may not happen until over a week of training. Roy may stick with what we've had v Everton, make subs, then in training work on it. Shame cos we need to doing everything we can for 3 points every week.

Hennessey

TFM Dann Sakho Schlupp

Luka

RLC Cabaye

Wilf Tekkers Townsend

What a first 11 that is. RLC has got to take more responsibility though. He does loads of quite nice stuff but it's time he made a difference with goals and assists.

defensively, I want Wilf and Townsend crowding the midfield and supporting the full backs. offensively I think there are so many combinations that front 3 can play to confuse the opposition and be effective.

we really can do something with that 1st 11.

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

None of those you mentioned became greats in the Premier League, with the exception of Fabregas, who has 2 speeds above the others.
And a really important thing......they were all playing for big teams. These teams need this type of slow but very technical players sometimes. It's ok playing like Berbatov if you play for Manchester United and you have 70% possession against West Brom. It's ok being Ozil when you play for Real Madrid, Arsenal or the German national team because they dominate and need this type of players to open up opposing defenses.

But these players in teams from the lower half of the table.......now that's a big problem. Arnautovic did just as much bad for Stoke in defence as he did good in offence. Troy Deeney...he's a big problem with his lack of movement. Benteke too.
It's difficult being Crystal Palace and having a player like RLC. He could flourish in a top 6 side, but they don;t want him yet cause there are better players than him at the moment.
So they sent him here to develop his playing. But here he needs to fight and recover balls and defend too. He needs to fight till the last breath and clench his teeth into the opponents. Or the team will concede.
I see RLC's attitude as very problematic. The good thing is that he's a very physical individual and it helps him stand his ground and even recover. But his lack of speed is still an issue for a team which mostly plays counter attacking football.

And if he were to deliver an assist every other game everybody would just accept it. But he doesn't do that either cause he's just too young and doesn't know which decisions are best to take to ensure the ball goes into the net at the end of the attack.

Good post. I have mixed feelings about him. On the one hand he is a good no.10 going forward and played there, could do very well for us, and would have cover behind firm cabaye and milo. But playing him wide, he needs to work harder to cover the full back, and he just doesn't seem to do that, for us or England. I'm hoping when bentekes back he'll be played as a number 10...

Not a chance in hell will be relegated...

It's taken five years but to be fair we have a great first XI.

Another five years and maybe the second XI will be just as strong...

Onwards and upwards.

I admire your optimism but have you looked at the league table lately. On paper we have had a strong first team for years. Unfortunately football is played on grass.
(assuming the will should read we'll)
