Twitter is perfect for one thing - complaining!

Write a company a letter, they ignore you.
Ring them, you sit on a premium rate line waiting to be put through to someone with zero interest in an Indian call centre, who does nothing to help, then says "is there anything else I can help you with today?"
Tweet them, and it's all over their public feed, and they really don't like it! You typically get a speedy response at least.

Yes, of course you should not trust Scottish academics. It's all fake news. And the Battle of Hastings was a great success for the Brits.

All this 'Russians influenced the Brexit vote' reminds me of the Monty Python 'Mr Hilter' sketch. Hilter is the National Bocialist candidate in the North Minehead bye-election, standing on a balcony saying 'historically, Taunton is a part of Meinhead'. Ron Ribbentrop turns to a sceptical looking yokel and says 'He's right you know that?'

So its a good source, for obtaining influence? I don't disagree. It concerns me that people would be more interested in getting the referendum result they want, than whether or not it was obtained through manipulation by a foreign power, for their own ends.

In an ideal world, ownership of a twitter account should be grounds for being refused the right to vote (at the very least).

That all depends on how you use it. I follow a couple of gin blogs and distillers and find Twitter very useful to find out what's good on the market

Why are the Russians so keen on Brexit and Trump?

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

As far as Brexit is concerned it's a no-brainer. They don't want a strong power bloc on their doorstep.

They got really upset about e.g. Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia and then even more upset when it was suggested Ukraine could join the EU. These were Russian satellite states in the past so it hurts pride as well as economically.

No doubt they are hoping Brexit will herald an implosion in the EU and then they can take some control back over places like the Czech Republic, Romania, Hungary etc.

Because they are disruptive and undermine western societies in their view.

The EU are doing everything they can to push Poland,Hungary,Slovakia,Czech Republic etc back to towards Russia.

They dont want anything to do with the migrant worker horror show Merkel has brought on us all.
