I quite like a drink before and after the game, but the break is quite nice. Get a couple in before the game to loosen the 'spirit' and get in the mood, then 90 minutes of shouting, cheering and singing, then down the pub for a bit of a session.

I'd imagine that having beers in the stands would be a cause for concern when the crowd all suddenly jump up celebrating a goal. Spilt pints, dumb egos and next thing you know, a few punches are flying.

There is barely room to sit, let alone secure a few beers.

If you've ever watched a Bundesliga game, you may have noticed beer being sprayed like rain every time a goal is scored. Not particularly pleasant to be the victim of ... unless its a 0-0 draw.

the arthur used to be terraced at first part then a wall and seated above.
it rarely used to be full so if you chose your moment you could shin up to the seats in the 2nd half.
beer was served.
it was heaven having a cold beer watching footy.
also fond memories of buying a cold beer at old Trafford
(I think swindelhurst scored and they equalised at the death)
unfortunately I don't think its possible unless you split the ground into smaller members only areas.
serve beer but if you play up-lose your membership!

I've been to a few concerts where plastic bottles have been thrown from behind me.
I can assure you that the contents of said plastic bottles were of human origin. Bar stewards

In the old days when the capacity was double what it is now you wouldn't have had room to lift the glass as we were packed in like sardines for some games

Much nicer than at festivals then. Never really understood why you'd pay to go to a concert and then hurl bottles at the band you paid to see...

Well I avoid the rubbish they serve up at the Palace as much as possible .The thought of drinking it is enough to put you off your cold jumbo size hot dog without onions .
The catering at Palace has been a disaster for the fans and the club who have really missed a trick with the closure of some local pubs they could have the place rocking two hours before kick off with good food and DECENT beer .

Maybe certain sections could be drinking zones like at the back of the stands or near the exits so going for a squirt isn't a problem and plastic cups instead of bottles to stop the throwing problem . A guy going round with a barrel on his back would also be a great feature ,he could have an extendable hose so you get served in your seat . Cold (quality) beer watching Palace live = heaven on earth .

And we still need a striker

Well, I've consumed alcohol as part of the match day experience.

Often by the time I get served there's only a minute to go before the second half begins.

So I put the bottle in my pocket and smuggle it back in.

Either that or miss a few minutes of the second half.

Furtively swigging beer doesn't make it any more enjoyable though

The beer is generally an insult at most football grounds (insipid and expensive).

In the old stand, when I've been there, the staff used to act as if they were caught unawares when there was a massive rush of customers, only 45 minutes after they'd all disappeared. It was it they were thinking "Where did all these people comes from? The funny thing is, exactly the same thing happened two weeks ago!"
