The Animal Welfare Act 2006 doesn't cover animal sentience and really only applies to domestic animals and animals in the wild and laboratories are expressly exempt.

It seems that the EU's laws that everyone is up in arms about us repealing don't apply to bulls in Spain or pigs and chicken in Denmark or veal calves in France none of which would be allowed in the UK

The subject of Animal Sentience was brought up in Daily Politics today and even the Green party representative agreed that the furore was based on incorrect information implying that his idiot leader Caroline Lucas had got hold of the wrong end of the stick

So you are completely confident that the Government will act fully in accordance with Michael Gove's statement. Remember Gove and his £350m a week for the NHS.

It doesn't need to, you still can't go around harming or killing them for fun.

Other than, seemingly, one highly publicised pet killer, animal welfare in this country is not a problem.

I don't believe the bulls*** on either side, I make my own judgements on whether something is a big deal or not, or a lie or not. Rather than make a knee-jerk reaction to some t*** celebrity or the one green MP who needs their 5 minutes of publicity.

Optimistic as ever

I've said many times that all politicians should have to wear a badge saying "Warning: I am a liar".

And I mean all of them.

This link from the Independent sums the furore succinctly despite what Guido said in his dishonest post earlier in this thread.

I thought this all got out of hand because "celebs" twitted fake news.

When the government had never actuality said anything of the sort.

That still doesn't offer any clarity around the actual significance and how it would apply to legislation. It's just their spin in defence of their original article of which they have published a retraction. More weasel words.

Not really, no. Again that's just talking about what they didn't vote for.

Here's Boris explaining what it actually means:

Is that the usual M.O. for a KUMB meet-up?
