Interesting bits on housing

£44bn capital funding to boost skills, land, SME Builders Loan, Urban Regenration, and Local Council HRH Caps to be reduced.

Planning reform for Urban areas to allow Local Authorities to grant homes for 1st time buyers, and to look into why 170+ planning permissions granted in London haven't seen the building built. If this land is being withheld for commercial rather then development reasons then possibly open to Compulsory Purchase.

Also for 1st Time Buyers, removal of stamp duty for homes up to £300k as of TODAY (good)

Edited by Lyons550 (22 Nov 2017 1.37pm)

The only problem with this is that homes close to 300k in value will simply become more desirable and therefore the price will increase so not so sure this is actually going to help much. I hope I am wrong though as I am looking to buy next year

It is tinkering like all the previous incentives to first time buyers which have failed, prices simply rise.

IMO only substantial house building programs of low cost housing will affect the market and bring prices down.

...except that there isn't a builder in the land who will build substantial amounts of low cost housing because they don't make enough profit from them...... just look at how virtually all planning applications include enough to get the permissions, then they haggle the figure down by 50% or more as they can't take the financial hit and will stop all the building if they don't get the reduction. Happened on a least 4 sites in the villages around here already.
