Sorry. Cleaning it up?

Have you seen the latest debt figures? Have you seen the forecasts for the deficit still not being eroded until probably 2030 (20 years of austerity!) Have you seen the woeful GDP growth figures? Have you seen the living standards and real wages crisis? have you seen what's happened to public services? Have you seen the predictions for massive increases in inequality and child poverty due to the decisions made since 2015? The Tories have made a terrible mess of the economy.

History will recognise the 2015 - 2022 (or whenever it ends) Tory government as the worst ever.

Point missed matey.
It's not easy to catch up.
If you can cast back to when the Tories were elected I think a letter stating along the lines of
" There's no money left"
Very professional and helpful to the public.
Also knowing they were going to lose the election they gave out untold contracts worth billions to many companies.
The Tory party had to go and cancel these contracts as with no dough they could never fulfil them.
Check out these points and then have a moan about why it has been so hard.
Austerity was put in place by labour in a blue coat.

Personal allowance raised massively. The poor got better off under Cameron, see graph.

Settling the issue of Scottish independence.

Stamp duty cut for less expensive housing. Stamp duty abolished for first time buyers.

Unemployment down, with 3/4 new jobs being full time.

Deficit down (not enough).

Consistently stronger growth than the rEU. Newsflash for anyone saying "it's weaker now"... uh, yeah. Because we're starting from a much higher point.

We are finally leaving the European Union.

Rich pay more in tax now than they ever did under Labour's last government. [Link]

Proper re-regulation of the banks, done in a manner that hasn't just killed them off.

Gay marriage.

Just hope I don't get seriously sick or old under this load of incompassionate idiots. The problem is there is no one out there offering to improve things

I don't think that Labour strictly speaking can be blamed for the banking crisis and credit crunch, nor has there been any real spectacular recovery. I think its generalised politics in which people take credit for things they aren't responisible for (Like New Labour and the longest period of economic growth in UK history).

I think the capacity of government to control and direct the economy has long since passed to the whims of investors and corporate entities. At best they implement policies that those entities want, so they can ride on their tail coats.

Government isn't the real power in the UK, or the world in general, and hasn't been for quite some times. Government serves corporate influences, same way that New Labour did.

Which is why corporate influences are doing all they can to discredit Corny as they are s*** scared of him.

Chancellor pointed out in his budget that we've fallen behind France now on GDP. Given forecasts that gap is only likely to get wider.

So in terms of relative GDP they've taken us backwards. Not one for the "win" column.

Productivity is so poor due to a lack of investment by both business and government over a couple of decades. The low tax rate has done little to incentivise businesses to invest, and austerity has had a positively depressing effect on business confidence when it comes to long term capital spending decisions. The hollowing out of UK industry and manufacturing has been a big brake to our productivity. The problems started with Thatcher and have only been made worse since.

I haven't seen full year forecast for 2017 - but we had larger GDP than France last year ie 2016.

All of those moaning, you'd have thought that this thread would be full of supportive claims for the Tories but all we got was cleaning up Labour's mess.

Come on you lot, they must have done something positive

I guess it was the coalition government, but I was very much in favour of raising the personal allowance. All in all I don't recall ever having a government in power that I've felt is on our side though, not this one, not the coalition, not labour.

It was the coalition government and we probably gained more from it than was obvious at the time. Pity it didn't continue to reign in the bell end Cameron and his crazy referendum idea.

Winning the election was enough for me.
Which kept the commies out.
