Odd Question [ for referees mainly ]

Prior to the penalty been taken could we have brought

on a substitute?

If so, bench could have substituted Benteke.

His 15 PL goals probably kept us up last season and has earned us another season in PL, however I have never rated him as a quality striker, he has limited ability, his movement off the ball is poor and he lacks any skills when the ball is on the floor, he cannot take penalties, he is clearly selfish and is not a team man so we should try and sell him but expect to get at best about 10mil if we are lucky that would be a far better outcome because we would save on his wages and the loss on him is compensated by the fact that we have the income from this season in PL.

We had already sent on three substitutes. Only solution now should be to hand CB all the punishment possible for his misdoings.

Just watched motd and they detailed the 2nd pen and there was a lengthy conversation between Luka and Benteke but it looked like Benteke was ignoring whatever Luka was saying to him although lineker said Luka was being unprofessional by putting Benteke off and detrimental to him missing the pen , what a crock !!

I actually don't think I've ever been angrier with a Palace player. Yes, players make mistakes, they may even lose their s*** when Zaha gets fouled for the 100th time and the ref does SFA about it, and once in a blue moon they may even get suspended or sent off.

But FFS to deliberately stand there and insist on taking a match-deciding penalty in injury time when you know fine well you're not only in poor form but also f***ing s***e at penalties? When you're going to the bottom of the table if you miss? And - this is what really sickens my mince - when you've seen Milivojevic score his third completely unstoppable penalty in as many months barely an hour earlier and he's standing right f***ing next to you? Oh and I nearly forgot. Then you take a penalty like *that*!?

Please tell me if you've ever seen anyone in a Palace shirt conduct himself like that during a match because I really can't think of a time when a Palace player has acted more like a total, complete and utter bellend.

This is exactly how I feel after watching it on motd again. Tomkins waving his hands in disbelieve as Benteke takes the ball of Luka. Wilf looking at the bench in disbelief. Why did one of them have the bollocks to put him straight. Even supporters around me at Selhurst saying he’s gonna miss.

Fcuking disgraceful at all levels. This has been the trouble with this club. Not fcking leaders in the team.

Thought Lineker was saying Benteke was putting Luka off.

Neville nailed it with his assessment.

Last chance saloon for Benteke on Tuesday for me. If he doesn't sweat blood from the get go sub him and get him out of the club.

Dear oh dear.
Benteke shows his true colours - it is all about him.
Like others - I am still fuming this morning.
On top of him deciding to take it though - who was Captain on the field and why didn't he stop it?
We still lack leadership and (sometimes) passion on the field and here is an example - Captain should have stepped in and given the ball to Luka.
He should be dropped and sold - whatever the cost.
We played better with Wilf and Townsend up front and Dwight Gayle showed yesterday that you don't need to be over 6ft tall to be a great striker.
We have started playing hoof ball again just because Benteke is playing.
OUT I say!

Apart from the fiasco at the end yesterday, Benteke had a decent game. He should be reprimanded for his errant behaviour and told to grow up ... he then needs to go out on Tuesday night to show everyone his true value and do what we all expect of him.

It looked to me as if they would have been in the business of having to physically cart Benteke away. Pity Hodgson's physio doesn't keep an air rifle and a supply of tranquiliser darts in his bag.

He'd have probably missed as well. As was said on MOTD Benteke had already undermined Luka by grabbing the ball. Luka can't get involved in a wrestling match.

However, someone else should have stepped in and told CB in no uncertain terms to get lost IMO. This is a bloke who hasn't scored all season and had missed two of his last three pens agains West Ham and Watford.

Yesterday was the tipping point with Tekkers, he really f***ed it up all round, but there were plenty on here who berated people for saying "we would be better off without him"

Sure he will come good at some point, but we have not got the time for his piss balling about. As for Dwight Gayle, he scored again for the Magpies, say no more....

It was a very unprofessional decision by Benteke yesterday and it more than likely cost us 2 points.
Lots on people on here looking for scapegoats.
Speroni was captain, Luka is the penalty taker and like everyone else cannot understand why Benteke suddenly wanted a piece of the action however
He did play his part in Saturdays match besides the penalty incident.
RH being a diplomat I thought handled the whole situation extremely well to the media, what he has expressed to the players who knows!
However I have calmed down a bit now and agree with some posters that there is absolutely no point in digging out Benteke on Tuesday night.
We still need to support the team as a whole as i am sure they will want to make amends for this Benteke especially.

It's a difficult situation for Luka to deal with, and he really needed some of the others to get involved and pull CB away. Earlier in the game I suspect that would have happened, but we were too busy getting involved with the Bournemouth players and the referee/linesman debate.

Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time.
