Benteke showed up yesterday but Wrighty was spot on with his constructive criticisms on Match of the Day. He still has a lot more room for improvement and he needs to be more alert. It's not as if we paid £7mill for him from The Championship and was unproven.

7.5/10 yesterday but we need to see some 8.5's and 9's.

We will not be in a position to sell in January, due to the lack of options up front, but depending how the rest of the season pans out i wouldn't be surprised if he went in the Summer.

One thing is for sure that was a wake up call in the B,muff game and we got a tune out of him yesterday at Leicester, which i didn't see coming.

Didn't Cabaye miss a pen at Newcastle last season and we could really have done with the points. Well YC came back stronger after criticism (not just for the pen) and has put in some excellent performances - some 8s and 9s as you put it.

If we were still bottom as indeed we pretty much were after the penalty miss then would it still be an overreaction? We got 3 points in the last few minutes v Watford and that confidence gave us the momentum to beat Leicester. It could've been quite different if we lost or drew with Watford.

The penalty was a pathetic effort and a disgraceful act undermining the manager and team.

From Roy's post-match comments v Leicester, I think the Manager has a grip on the situation.
We don't need a reactionary Manager, we need a considered and analytical manager, which thank goodness we have.

Benteke also had a good game and got a goal, thus putting Bournemouth behind him.

If Benteke retains his (Leicester) form and endeavours, then we would have no reason to sell.

Apparently Benteke apologised to his team mates and Manager for the penalty debacle. Any other disciplinary measures are an internal matter.

Why on earth would we sell him, it’s not like we are overloaded in the striker dept. He is a proven Premier striker the likes of which we haven’t had for many a year.
He has been having a barren run, it happens to most strikers. The argument to sell him in January and get new strikers in, sounds great, but where are these strikers? There maybe loads in Europe, but all untried at the top level.
It’s the same as another thread about selling Zaha, we are never going to be a top 10 club by selling our best players or am I missing something!
