I was only saying tonight that I have envisaged Huddersfield plunging down the table in the New Year after a promising start in the manner of Blackpool and Hull.

Agree With you Willo,i think Huddersfield will be like Hull last season and possibly go down.

And it was only in August that you were praising there recruitment.!!!!

Well their recriuitment hasn't been bad given the money available and the fact that their playing style revolves not so much around footballing skill as around agricultural thuggery. The problem is that teams like that can't sustain it for 38 matches and get found out. The other thing about them is that they think they're doing quite well until it's too late to blame the manager and kick him out, or to break the bank in the January market.

Odds for going down

Us: 6 / 4 against
This lot: evens or a little longer
Wet Spam: pretty well evens
Swansea: goosed

So that's now three teams the market thinks are shorter odds than us to get relegated.

There definitely positive signs now and thank god for it. It was like some had already thrown in the towel. These were good results for us and if we hit a decent run of form who knows what's possible. Our chances of staying up are looking good if we can keep the momentum going. Three decent results in a row, bring on number four.

The west brom and bournmouth games are massively important. If we f*** either of those two up, it could come back to haunt us later in the season.

I didn't know the actual odds. This reads just about right to me really taking everything into account. I'm a bit more optimistic on our chances of staying up but we'll see.

If we can get four points or more from the next two games that'll be great.

Every season at least one club suddenly plunges from seemingly mid-table security into the relegation tussle. Huddersfield have looked suspect for some time, though their physical approach has done them well. Brighton are faring quite well but they should have looked more confident against the bottom team, and Burnley are really flying. I truly expect two of those teams to go into free-fall with Southampton, soon.
The Baggies, who knows, but possible. With Super Pards anything is and Stoke do look ropey. This season has only just started. I'm not saying Palace for Europe, but add Wet Spam and the decaying Toffees to the list....who knows now.

People keep saying this and counting on points we haven't got yet.

The fact is we're one injury to a front player away from being hamstrung again and are yet to show the good form or performances with results either. But we're difficult to beat, respecting the point, which is important in this league, with a bit of endeavour to win, but not yet enough for me looking at us vs Stoke & Brighton. We need a lot of points before Arsenal and Man City and it feels as if we're not in a hurry and waiting for them to become available rather than making them ours. Maybe I'm wrong but the next few easier ones won't roll over like some think.

Plus which

Wet Spam have played the new manager card and drawn a turkey.
Allardyce has gone to a team that would surely have stayed up anyway and we still get our £2m.
West Brom have fired a good manager and replaced him with a well-known muppet.
The teams above us have hardly picked up a point in the time it's taken us to nearly catch them up.
Tonight three of them dropped points they could have won and the other three got spanked.

Swansea will probably go for Pulis but the problem there isn't the manager - it's the fact that they sold Gylfi and Llorente, didn't replace them, and brought in that Sanchez character who has turned out to be a dud. They probably have little funds for the coming window.

In any case it's not even impossible to stay up if you're bottom on Christmas Day - it's happened twice, West Brom years ago at our expense and Leicester the other year, when they looked dead and buried even in March and not only got out of it but won the thing the following year.

I am amazed it took you so long to post this. Perhaps you have commented elsewhere?

Time will tell which manager does best out of Allardyce and Pardew given the respective assets at their disposal. Trust me ferret, I am happy to be proved both right and wrong on this one.

I really do not think that Everton will be relegation candidates, especially as Allardyce will be taking up the reins.
