Reading that most couldn't give a sh1t, but then again lots of the BBS wouldn't mind a communist states of Europe.

If apathy is causing anybody to not sign this then just remember when one pops up unnecessarily near you that you didn't sign to oppose this whacking great thing that it seems only deserves to be there because there's loads of traffic passing through.

Btw, I was in favour a housing development on the Chaldon golf course but loads of nimbys got in the way of that. That's exactly where houses should be going. There or new towns or adding homes to towns away from London.

Remember this when you're clinging onto the luggage rack on the dangerously packed commuter train after hundreds more board at Purley.

Maybe Reigate, Banstead, Oxted, Selsdon, Bromley or anywhere there's a junction and some traffic and shops where any shopping community existed in the '70s deserve one of these. Maybe the A22 by David Gold's. Lots of traffic and traffic links there.

Looks like little has been learnt from past planning howlers. Oh well, get out and stay out and see how the graduates get on with their desires.

The real issue with the development in Purley is the height.
Nothing exists over 6 stories at present. Grant this one of 17 and the flood gates will open.
Developers will see that they can get plans through for more mixed developments up to 17 stories anywhere in the Borough!
This development comprises of 3 to 17 storey building with basements comprising 114 flats, community and church space and a retail unit on Island Site and a 3 to 8 storey building comprising 106 flats on south site and public realm improvements with associated vehicular accesses. With only 37 parking spaces!

I think you will find that the Purley Scout Group in question are attached to the Baptist Church in Purley and thus heavily in favour of the development!

I never said that it shouldn't be of concern, just implying that the concerns should be more valid and less emotive.

The trend of discussion here seems to be equity rich people annoyed that developers are taking advantage of land in an affluent area, near a mainline train station.

Developers are never going to build out in the green belt when there are more profitable land opportunities in areas like yours. I've recently bought in Croydon but I did so fully aware that there is massive redevelopment occurring, and that there would be the potential risk of much higher rise development occurring near my property.

If you want to live in a semi detached community with no day to day change, a village green and the local church being the closest thing to a high rise development, then live in the green belt.
