We need a striker that can score goals. No point having a midfield that can create with no one to put it in the net.

I still think having a good midfield is more important, last season we got a good return of goals with JM, YC and RLC in the middle and Benteke not even on the pitch. I think if we can create lots of chances, everyone will chip in anyway.

I agree, imagine if we had a striker last season that put away 12 goals.

Although that would have taken the pressure off the midfield and let them play their usual role, but still, a few goals wouldn't have gone a miss.

I actually want to go back to the pre holloway days (i believe) where we had strikers that could and play with the ball. Armstrong, Freedman, McKenzie, Svennson, Jansen, AJ, Morrisson, FFS wonder season.

I miss that.

7 goals between the 3 of them , a good return?
Don’t fool yourself mate. Without Lukas penalties the chances are we would have been relegated. We need a striker that can score. We created chances, Benteke missed the most decent chances out of any striker. If he has a similar season , Wickham remains injured and Sorloth , still an unknown quantity, is used from the bench. If we don’t buy we will have the worst set of front men in the league.

Yeah and I miss Alan Lee. So gifted.

And Shefki Kuqi. Gave everything, every game. We miss this.

hilarious mate.. i mean i miss the days where we didn't generally hoof it up top and rely on a big target man.. which is pretty much what you described... you cannot sit there and say at times it wasn't great watching the goals those players scored? Ofcourse it was back in the day, but i would love to go back to that style of having a striker that can run at players and score a cracker.

Perhaps I want clear enough, I meant we still got a good team wide return of goals with good midfielders on the pitch i.e. a good midfield creating scoring chances is more important.. not that a striker isn't, just at this point in time, sorting the midfield to be properly creative and hold possession, is more beneficial to the team overall, and therefore the results.

We created chances, but have lost 2 of the midfielders that were crucial to our end of season run, a largely Bentekeless run.

So, Golovin is having a medical at Monaco tomorrow.
Unless we sign Pjanic now, guess who is staying at Chelsea next season

Good shout. Shows those type of strikers can and have been found/matured at Palace. Ideally a striker offering something different and can find the net. A few cards need to be taken out of Tekker's hand. Then he will have to start to perform in front of goal. Definitely need competition in that area if we are to increase the probability of having a comfortable season, free from relegation worries.

McKenzie and Svensson? Add Ndah to that as well. A trio of utterly inadequate strikers.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham
