Even as recently as JUNE of this year, the Senate voted 90-0 to move the US Embassy to Jerusalem. At the time Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (of the DEMOCRATS) criticised Trump for reneging on his campaign pledge. Now he is doing it.

The Palestinians are continually rioting, it's the fourth time they have declared a day of rage in last eight months. This is nothing new.

In July, they rioted over metal detectors being installed at the holy Temple Mount. They were put there after three Palestinian terrorists killed two Israeli cops.

Trump's embassy decision is the latest excuse for them to riot and the anti-Israel media will legitimise this.

Britain is outraged! But the countries in the region, the likes of Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Egypt don't care about the Jerusalem issue.

There is literally nothing either good or right about this post.

There is a reason why no one has an embassy in Jerusalem (well two actually). One, no one wants to add fuel to an already precarious political situation by legitimising any sides claim over the city (Christian, Jewish or Muslim).

Secondly, its a bit of a 's**t hole' in the middle of nowhere, as all the Israeli government facilities are based in Tel Aviv.

Actually, a third one, it would create problems for the US and UK's allies in the middle east, by fermenting another generation of infatada's, this time likely to be very much Islamist in cause.

There is a distinct problem that there are still in excess of half a million plus displaced Palestinans throughout the middle east.

It potentially is a return to the 80s in terms of the Israel-Palestinian problem.

Not sure where you get these figures from, old chap? The descendants of those refugees who fled the 1948 War were just under 5 million in 2012. That is about half the Palestinian population. Thus, decimal point issue?

OK, many of those represent the Palestinian diaspora with, eg, 500,000 in Chile [there has been an Israeli policy of "encouraged" migration to Latin America], over 250,000 in the USA and 100,000 across the EU - many may be more than happy to sentimentalise about their homeland - but will never go back - even if Israel was overthrown.

On the other hand, in 2012 there were 1.5 million [!] living in refugee camps.

So those who post that those annoying Palestinians just riot and complain about anything at the drop of the hat...

Germany won the War. They took a look at London and thought: we'll have that. The slums were left to be occupied by a tolerated drone population to serve their needs but under strict oppressive conditions. Eventually, after Hitler died, the policies liberalised as the Germans saw that a less oppressed population with eg seats in minor power and jobs in the civil service, are happier, work better and reduce security costs. However, they remain a poor, largely oppressed, underclass. Meanwhile, all the nice areas are occupied by German nationals who also took and held all the plum jobs, schools and still do so.

So what happened to the rest of the population of London? They were forced out. Now there was only so much room for them in the existing urban settlements in England. A significant % flooded into the Birmingham area which became grossly over-populated and remains so with all the myriad of social issues this produces. The rest [about half] had to look elsewhere.

The Irish and the Scots [no great friends of the English] reluctantly agreed to take some on... but were then engulfed by literally millions of refugees. They still live in those places - they can't go back - in the worst conditions resented and hated by their local populations.

So what of the German occupiers? Time has passed. They are no longer "occupiers". Indeed, they are internationally recognised as being the true and proper inhabitants of London. Meanwhile, pesky "Cockneys" who complain or protest or who undertake minor armed insurrections are branded as terrorists and mischief makers by most of the world. They have some support, but not enough. Mainly, they are friendless, oppressed, beaten people without hope.

The question: where would you stand on this?

Ok, a lot more than 500k

I also agree, they're an occupied people, and as such it shouldn't be surprising that they'll resort to whatever means they can to fight back.

Why?

Occupied territories illegally occupied for past 50 years...

Look at France 1940-45....

Apples and oranges. France was a country. How was it illegal when the UN voted it into existence?

I'm not a fan of what happened in 47 but to implicitly write that murdering people is some kind of acceptable response to Israel isn't something I think is ok to state unchallenged.

I disagree. The Anti-Semitic media in this country is brainwashing people. You do know Israel is a safe place, has a rule of law, has a Muslim woman in its Cabinet and seeks to engage a multicultural society...

However, Hamas etc.

Violence toward innocents can never be justified and if a country and ultra Orthodox Jews steal land and build on it whilst making the real owners homeless refugees then they can't really claim to be one of those innocents.

Israel is a legal country. The occupied territories are not a legal part of it though the state behaves as if they are.

Be like France taking over Sussex and Kent and expecting us to grin and bear it.

Tbf since its birth the governments of Israel have committed many terrible crimes that have directly negatively affected many millions and continues to do so in the name of religion and Zionism.

And the enemies of Israel haven’t committed atrocities? The rockets aimed at homes? The stabbing of people in the street? The kidnapping and the torture? The bombings?
