I am going out to Melbourne and Sydney for the 4th and 5th Test matches. Looks like England will already have lost the Ashes by the time I get there, but still looking forward to it. My first time in Australia.
Can anyone please suggest where in Melbourne I should go to watch the arsenal game on 28th December? It seems it will start at 9.00 am local time so I'd like to find a bar near the MCG so I can get to the cricket as soon as the football finishes. Any suggestions please.

There is a long established CPFC Melbourne Supporters Club you can contact/share the experience with. Sadly I am not tech-savvy enough to provide a link. They
have a Facebook page or you can Gooogle.
Two Ashes Tests and sun, sea, stay off the other, and Palace, I am intensely jealous. Enjoy.

Many thanks for taking the trouble to reply. I have followed the suggested links on Facebook and the Charles Dickens Tavern looks a likely place to go. Any other suggestions will be gratefully received.

Charles dickens is defiantly the place to go. I lived in Melbourne a few years back and came across this place for the playoff final. The place was full of red and blue. Couldn't believe how many fans were there. Atmosphere was like being at a pub in England! The guys are great who regularly go there. I'm still a member on the Melbourne crystal palace Facebook group so I know they still go there. Enjoy it in Melbourne, it's amazing. Best city in the world. Join the group on Facebook.

I live just out of Melbourne and, just to let you know, I am not sure of the kickoff time for the Arsenal game but a normal 3.00pm England time kick off is 2.00am Sunday morning in Melbourne. Also, it has been a huge issue in Australia that until last season, EPL TV rights were held by pay tv which was in all pubs and clubs but is now held by a telco (Optus). I watch Palace games by trauling the internet from about 1.45am to find a stream so, unfortunately, watching a Palace game when you get here will not be as easy as you might think.

Any other Australian supporters might like to share how they watch games or does everybody now subscibe to Optus

Im a melbourne boy and as other posters have mentioned im doubtful our usual venues (Charles Dickens) do the EPL any longer due to change of broadcaster 2 seasons ago. When are you leaving the UK to come to Oz?

Dont know for sure but i work in Melbourne so i'll ask around for you. I'll post my findings on here by 13th December.
