Roy did publicly criticise CB in post-match interview. Said he was not designated penalty taker and should not have been taking it. The Captain on the pitch at that time was Julian S. Despite this plenty of senior players about to step in. However, if we have a tug-of-war over the ball then whoever eventually takes it is under five-fold more pressure. At the end of the day CB needs shooting for being such a flash big-head and putting his needs above the teams. Season-defining.

If we can't even decide properly who is to take the penalties then there really is no hope. That conduct from Benteke is absolutely unacceptable, he wasn't the captain and he must have known he wasn't the best penalty taker (by miles and miles). If the thinks it's OK to behave like that it's another reason why he needs to be gone.

Players aren't picked in ranking of how much they earn.

Haven't read the whole thread. Has anyone mentioned Itzik Zohar yet? He f***ed up a penalty he should never have taken for us once. Didn't last long after that.

You can understand why the others didn't confront Benteke as in that would have put him under more tension if he refused to hand it over to Mila so they would have somehow been to blame too for the miss in their own heads but it was also the wrong decision by them. CB might be the nicest guy in real life but on the pitch he is a disappointing and cocky lump of a footballer who hardly breaks sweat for his money.

Completely gutted. If we do go down, I think this could be looked upon as the season defining game as others have mentioned. That whole penalty fiasco was a complete cock up, lets hope the manager and team learn from that, and especially Bentecke. His head simply isn't in the right place. Still two points closer to getting out of the relegation zone, although our season seems to be edging closer to total disaster.
