The money is irrelevant, he is our only striker of course he gets to play. Players aren't picked in ranking of how much they earn.

Not necessarily. Even once he was fit again Hodgson was starting with Wilf and Townsend up front with no Benteke.

Today he did cause some bother for the Bournemouth defenders in the box and created a bit from some knock-downs and flick-ons.

But that business with the penalty overshadows all that. Players with that kind of attitude are as welcome as a s***storm in a semiconductor plant.

I fear this could be a season defining moment. It's not the almost certain loss of two points, though that is vitally important, but what it does for team morale that leaves me most concerned. An out of form striker puts his needs above the team while our best player by some distance works his socks off only for others to screw it up because of their selfishness.

Why wasn't Luka marching up to him and grabbing the ball?! Why wasn't Dann (the captain on the pitch) getting involved? Unbelievable. No, just let him take it, oh go on, he really wants to after all... Honestly can't get that angry with Benteke, i'm angry at the vacuum of leadership that means no one stands up and says stand the f*ck down to detrimental egotism like that. The team has to come first, not the whims of out of form strikers on 12 game goal droughts.... God that has royally pissed me off...

We do have leadership, unfortunately it came off in 25 mins. Doubt whether Tekkers would of tried to take the ball off the Beast. Dann has never really fitted the captain's jersey and has struggled with it.

CB might be the nicest guy in real life but on the pitch he is a disappointing and cocky lump of a footballer who hardly breaks sweat for his money.

If certain players on the field can't do that [diplomatically], why are they the (vice-)captain? Had Jedi, Punch or even Sakho (I hope) had been on the pitch, that wouldn't have happened.

Speroni wore the captains armband, so why dig out Dann?

After Luka had buried that pen against the Arse then it was clear he would be our only pen taker. Phil Neal and Ray Stewart use to always take the pens in the past for their respective teams without change.

Painter may not agree but it goes back to the big 'I am' and his earning and price tag and ego and sense of being top the pile so is entitled in his own head to do what the fvck he wants and that probably sub-consciously intimidates his team-mates.

Playground stuff, it's unbelievable, this is a premier league game. If I went against my employers instruction and lost the firm money I would expect a warning or even be sacked, who the fxxx does he think he is.

I get that, and in part I agree, but I still don't think that, had we had certain characters, Benteke would've been allowed. Don't get me wrong, I think he's a bellend for the aforementioned events.

On a side not, slightly positive one, Roy's interview is spot on, and absolutely class. Explains the "incident" with himself and a fan.

EDIT: [Link]

EDIT2: Also, apparently Sakho is out for a while. Gets worse and worse.

He's got form for doing that, hasn't he?

I'm sure I asked after one of his feeble efforts from the spot once WTF he was doing taking it after last time and the answer was pretty similar to this one.

Not a team player at all. Get rid.

He can't score, won't score, will never score. You never get the impression he is using any intelligence in what he does. He takes up the wrong positions, doesn't gamble on where the cross is going - and to cap it call he costs us two points through sheer F***ing vanity.
