There has been a lot of talk about leaders and who would or should have stopped Benteke taking that penalty. Roy Hodgson rightly pointed out that himself or the bench couldn't have entered the field of play as it would of meant a fine and a lengthy ban. I think it's hard to argue that even though the thought of 70 year old Roy sprinting on to the pitch and wrestling the ball off the pantomime villain is a great one, it could have done more longer term harm if our Manager was banned for the next 5 games. Wouldn't it have been an amazing moment if he realised he has lost his skill now and won't be seeing first team action again. If he realised in that moment, that was the one last purpose for him to do something right for Palace. There would have been something poetic about Puncheon sprinting on, screaming at Benteke and giving the ball to Luka before being red-carded and possibly never seen again. Winning us 3 points just from being braver than all the cowards on the pitch that "couldn't wrestle the ball off Benteke". If only...
