A win tomorrow and that Benteke penalty incident will be forgotten.

And a defeat, what then?

Happily. He shouldn't have taken the penalty but otherwise had an excellent game. There's no guarantee Luka would have stuck it away anyway albeit he'd have had abetter effort.

Why did Luka roll over so easily and let Benteke take it? Both Luka and Dann etc need to grow a pair and actually show some leadership in future.

Anyway, we didn't lose the game, we played very well second half and hopefully the whole team, including Benteke, will be up for it tomorrow night.

Lets stick together, move on and get behind the boys

Exactly perhaps we should blame all the other players who missed scoring chances in this game.

We had enough goal scoring chances to win the game before the penalty shambles.

Some team is going to get a proper beating from us soon

I think he will be and should be dropped for the next game.

Really?

Hopefully that level of short-sightedness and negativity doesn't seep through to the team. I also really hope for your sake that you start finding enjoyment at Palace again, because you seem almost clinically depressed by everything that happens at club at the moment. Maybe Roy should loan you out to Brighton in January?

No pal. Just people at the club who make obviously stupid decisions you can see going badly wrong. Big difference. Mistakes are one thing, walking head first into them is something different. This bloke is paid an absolute fortune and he messed with our future.

A chance is a bit different to that pathetic effort he's repeated before and we knew was coming when he stood there.

until we are two points short of safety at the end of the season, the club are relegated and lose millions in revenue!

lets be realistic about this, yes he missed the penalty and yes he shouldn't have gone against orders. to drop him from our next game is surely a case of "cutting our noses of to spite our face". He is our only FORWARD in our entire team at this precise moment in time. what happened on Sat afternoon happened...its Monday now and nothing can change that! he is still getting up to speed from his injuries and although he aint my cup of tea, he does seem to be getting fitter and better. a goal would be great for him and the team. we are Palace and we love the roller coasters, wouldn't be the same without it

Up to Roy. Roy knows best. He's providing them with everything he can to do the business. It's not he who is getting things wrong, apart from subbing Wilf at geordie fc and claiming the players couldn't get the ball off Benteke, although he probably has good reasons for both.

BIG BIG mistake on benteke’s part, by not apologising on social media platforms, to the fans firstly and all at the club, for bullying Luca into the penalty taking.
Has he made a very ‘grave error’ ??
Only a hat - trick will appease us all, I’m still angry now !!
So selfish, looking for the ‘glory’

Like Speroni did in 2005 .
He redeemed himself and wouldn't be stupid enough to do it again would he ?

Apols if any of this has been said already.

I am not normally one for defending the indefensible...but here goes.

Beneteke's all-round game was not terrible on Saturday.
Far from it. We were sat behind the goal at the Sainsbury's end. He won two huge headers from way beyond the back post, nodding them back into prime danger territory. They should both have been assists for goals, and he was clearly gutted that nobody had gambled on him winning the first balls.

For all our decent possession out wide, I don't recall anyone putting the ball on his head in the danger zone. Sako was more likely to hit the Arthur Wait from the members stand side of the pitch.

When it was played to his feet, CB generally kept it and laid off simple passes.

If a Palace player misses a penalty (and I am old enough to remember Bright, Wright and Pembo all missing in the same game*), I fail to see how booing them before the end of the game will achieve much. Some generous souls up our end were actually booing him as he came back to defend a corner; what utterly self-defeating prattery! I sensed they'd have been happy if he'd banged in an own-goal just to crown the moment.

Here's a thing...that we are a Premier club at all is in (small) part down to the efforts of Cameron Jerome in our first season back...the battering ram who barely scored two league goals all season. CB should never be allowed near a penalty kick ever again, but if he scores a few and others actually get on the end of his knock-downs, we might just stay up.
