In Europe, we have to import our loons for the most part and have been doing a good job of it for 50 years or so.

I wouldn't say things have got worse in the last 50 years than the preceding 50 when it comes to overall violence in Europe, would you?

Is it really? Or is it that we now have far more news available to us and pushed at us than ever before, so it just seems worse?

In the US, violent crime and gun crime have been steadily descending for two decades. "This American carnage" that Trump promised to end has been ending anyway. [Link]
