Warning young girls to beware`of evil older men who try to befriend them is most certainly worthwhile.

Describing them as "pakistani" isn't. It would both demonise in their eyes many good people who could help protect them and encourage them to ignore all the others who might harm them. Child abuse is very far from an exclusively pakistani problem.

I am no more "pro-pakistani" than I am pro-martian!

I am simply pro practical solutions that help and don't hinder.

Blowing hot air at a problem like this just creates heat.

Your last line is so wrong. This thread is about the grooming gangs which you know are predominantly pakistani. Racist and rapists. Scum bags who need naming and shaming. If its good for TR it's good for all. What's the difference.

But those charged were of pakistani origin. Are you saying that other members of that community are so offended by that fact being mentioned that they collectively decide to ignore abuse if they know it’s happening?

Who really knows how many would feel offended and how deeply? There are always going to be some in the middle who would swing towards supporting the authorities if they feel supported by them and the other way if they feel abused by them.

Why take the risk? What is the benefit? Is it greater than the risk. My instinct is that it isn't and that this careless use of language is not being thought through. Particularly by the tabloid press who like a good headline to wind up their readership.

Describing them as Asian demonises an entire continent; most of whose people aren’t involved at all.

More than a decade during which time offenders had been identified but no prosecutions made during which time there were many more victims. Let’s hope those girls also believe this was due to a lack of resources.

If true, it's irrelevant to the point I am making.

It has even less to the charges now faced by Mr Yaxley-Lennon.

The debate about how and why the investigations were slow is important but separate to both.

The risk is that by not naming them they feel more empowered to do more of the same.

Slow? Ten years is more than slow. Suspects had been identified but not arrested.

I have no idea what "question" you think I haven't answered. I have already answered your attempts to throw mud about my description of an undertone in the debate. I know of nothing else.

I have the perfect solution. It involves lots of big boats and people like you being marched onto them along with the rapists and the stabbers and the people traffickers and given a one way ticket away from Britain to their country of origin. I don't give a damn if they were actually born here or not.

People like you can be dropped off in the middle of the ocean on the way.

As I had absolutely nothing to do with any kind of "mass immigration" I was neither for, or against it.

Immigration has been a consistent part of our collective experience throughout my lifetime.

Things happen. An ageing population, falling birth rates, a history of Empire and promises made. These things have intensified demand and provided willing people to meet it. The Eastern European influx changed the dynamics.

People like me created nothing. The situation created the need.

That, with the benefit of hindsight it ought to have been managed better is something I can agree with, as I guess do most people. It wasn't and we are now where we are.

In a previous response I asked for practical, legal solutions. What you offer is just ridiculous rhetoric which is no better than the stupidity routinely served up by Yaxley-Lennon.

It might make you feel better to expel the hot air but it doesn't move us any closer at all to finding a way forward. As such it's worse than a waste of time. It delays finding things that can actually contribute. Legally and practically.

Now maybe we ought to get back on thread. How's Mr Yaxley-Lennon's latest trial going?

I don't have an issue in naming them! Nor do the Courts. Let people draw their own conclusions if they wish to.

As I just said to Teddy I don't have any problem in naming them and then allowing people to draw their own conclusions.

Yaxley-Lennon isn't described by his ethnicity, is he?Just by his name. What indeed is the difference?
