So at least I'm very well covered if I want any particular political view. Jobs for the boys and girls and theys is all that it is. Which is what the latest statement by the government claims to now be addressing. All of which suggests a significant level of confusion in government. Would you want to be a Chief Constable trying to interpret how the government expect to this to be handled?

It's about the conditions which stopped full investigations happening.

There are 444 pages which review the broader issues and which cannot be dismissed in a single paragraph. Whilst I accept that the way this has been described in the media, and some of the reports, is the fear of "heightening racial tension" I wonder if that is an unnecessarily negative presentation of the motivation. Looking at it objectively it seems to me that the police are not at all fearful of being perceived as racist. As more recent events have indicated. So it seems more likely the purpose was to try to encourage co-operation and avoid constructing barriers, the better to obtain admissible evidence. That's just an observation though.
