With safety now basically assured, we've got to start playing him again. He's our player, Batshuayi isn't. Unless we're planning to change either of those facts this summer, we have to assume that he will be our player still next season and, as such, need to give him the chance to end the season on a high. Benteke has had a shocking couple of years but deep down there's still the ability to score 10-15 goals in a season and I think that confidence is the only thing lacking. The pressure is now off so give him the chance.

Can't wait for him to get back on the scoresheet and regain some confidence. Currently whenever a chance presence itself to him he reminds me of one of the basketball players in Spacejam after they've had their talent stolen...let's hope the aliens return it soon!

It has nothing to do confidence etc, he has been absolute garbage for 2 years now!! He could play every minute from now until the end of the season and he would still be useless, still not score goals and still miss sitters like that one!

The pressure is now off so give him the chance. I have spoken to a number of supporters who were of similar view but many have lost faith in him and believe that their trust was mis-placed. Game after game we have all been hoping for the last couple of years that he would re-discover his form of old but game after game he has been hugely disappointing.Confidence must be at rock bottom and perhaps a change of club will see a change of fortunes but alas we might be stuck with him until his contract has expired for reasons that we all know. His dire performances are not good for the player or indeed the club and we as supporters must hope that he re-discovers his former prowess. Edited by Willo (08 Apr 2019 7.51pm)
