Wonder how many would be sticking up for him if he’d come through the ranks at Palace?

Benteke has been given an incredible amount of patience and opportunity in the last two seasons despite his complete failure to do his job - 61 appearances and 4 goals, and he's still in the starting line-up at the beginning of this season. Nobody can say he hasn't been given a fair go.

The long and short of it is that he is a centre forward who cost approx. £30,000,000 and one who earns a basic £6,000,000 (approx.) per year and yet he doesn't score goals anymore.
You employed with a job title - if you cannot fulfil the criteria then you should be sacked!

Roy has asked for training to simulate match situations as closely as possible. Benteke's been training well. He found three new ways to miss easy chances that he will demonstrate throughout this season.

The only thing I would say in his defence, and it probably wouldn’t stand up in a court of law, is that Hodgson’s meticulous methods of backwards and sideways passing do not and will never suit Benteke.
His movement around the box is poor and he hasn’t the footwork or speed to create a goal out of nothing.
He needs plenty of crosses in the air to attack and I’d be surprised if we hit three per game.
He’d probably thrive playing for Sean Dyche in the way that Barnes and Wood have.
Benteke is in the wrong place at the wrong time.
The problem is that he still has one year on his contract, there are not many takers and he shows no inclination to leave so we’re left with a declining asset.
The best solution would probably have been a sale to China that would have at least enabled some sort of return on investment for the club.
Sadly that opportunity seems to have passed and the most likely scenario is that he walks away for free at the end of his contract.

There was a time when people thought Benteke, was a natural goal scorer, striker. Since his arrival at Palace, he has pretty well proved they were wrong.
On PVAs cross he miss read the situation, you only get one chance and he watched his pass him bye . In his defence he was coming from the wrong angle, earlier in the game when a driven cross was blocked ,he was entering the box central and may have got on the end of it.
What bothers me is on PVAs brilliant cross nobody was anywhere near it. Nobody.
I thought his general play was better than average, if only he could hit the back of the net more often.

This is all true. When he was at Liverpool there were pundits and analysts going crazy over the same thing when Klopp first arrived.

What’s probably more concerning is not that Pardew and Parish bought him, because he kept on firing in headers that season under Pardew and Allardyce, but Parish hired FDB 10 months later.

However, there are mismatches of tactics and then never being able to read a simple ball or what your teammates are able to do or keep doing after years of witnessing it week in, week out, for most of the week as well. It’s unforgivable the amount of balls across the goal on the deck he has ultimately failed so badly on. Even midfielders can achieve this yet this statue stays static no matter what. Inexcusable. I cannot wait to see the cvnt fvck off.

I thought Michi, was beginning to give us that. Pity he didn’t remain available. It’s definitely something we need.
Don’t think Benteke, will ever be able to be that sort of penalty box assassin .

He has caused me too much pain. I have had a chat with myself and decided that if he plays on Sunday and doesn't score then I am washing my hands of him and I will defend him no more.

Stealing a fortune. The team are wearing chains trying to succeed with this cvnt.

Unfortunately I agree. He’s a burden to the team. Couldn’t finish his dinner. Whatever it is is, confidence, the penalty, the injuries, loss of desire, ambition he’s finished. Not sure I’ve seen such a dramatic decline in a striker since Michael Ricketts

He is still here, still starting games - unbelievable! Do not think any PL team ever has been that patient with a so-called striker.

If he were to leave now that would leave us very short so even though I don't like him we surely cannot let him go yet!
