Probably best for all involved if we're not going to play/use him properly.

How much could we get? 10 mil seems like a stretch. What's that - a 20 mil loss or so?

Yeah, but you can't really always look at it like that. Otherwise that means that Hazard must be really bad, as he didn't score at all. Or Benteke is as good as De Bryne, as he also only scored two. Both of which we know aren't true.

We're not playing the sort of football that gets the best out of a striker like Benteke. That's the bottom line for me. It's not hard to see.

When you are in the ground , he gets a big chance , people look up but don’t even stop the conversations they are having, as they know that he will miss/hit the keeper/head the ball over the bar etc, says a lot about where he has fallen to.
Obviously better service would help, but apart from the first season, he must be the worst buy, pound for pound in our history.
He has missed so many good chances, if I was a midfielder I’d be looking up to pass the ball, see him on his own and see if there were any other options.
If he wasn’t Christian Benteke , on the last 2 years form he wouldn’t be on the bench and probably would have been released.

Strikers are all about confidence - at least he is now scoring now which should give him a boost. His second goal was well taken though the first was one of those scramble efforts that some how end up in the back of the net.

Agreed. After his 2 goals hopefully he has his chin up and should think about starting him against his old side at the weekend where he has an additional incentive.

The only start he should get is in the leaving blocks.
Hardly played against a strong defence, let alone a world class one. Sooner he's out the door the better.

CB's wife Fortunata (what an apt name) joined her misfiring husband on a 12-month driving ban today.

She crashed her brand new 3-litre Mercedes in Coulsdon after late-night champagne at a friend's house and got done for drink-driving.

CB himself was banned last week for 3 speeding offences.

Shame he’s in no hurry without possession, or with it.

Those are the only points he's earned in about 2 years.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

If we can get 10 million it will be a great parting of ways, wash our hands of the situ once and for all and kick on to the future, please, please, please!

At this point, I can't ever imagine a day when Benteke is not drawing a salary from us.

I figure in 2025, we'll be bottom of table in division 3, and Benteke will still be playing every week, and still looking for his first goal since 2019.

2017 Feb. (Van Aanholt) Palace 1 - 0 Middlesboro
2018 Jan. (Sako) Palace 1 - 0 Burnley
2019 May (Batshuayi, Batshuayi, OG, Van Aanholt, Townsend) Palace 5 - 3 Bournemouth
2020 Feb. (Van Aanholt) Palace 1 - 0 Newcastle

In all honesty it will feel almost like a new era when he actually does (if he actually does.)
