Sadly Roy is too worried about denting benteke confidence even more if he dumps him. Sorloth or ayew are better than benteke at the moment. They ain’t great but benteke is utter useless he has a over a year of bad games and countless missed opportunities. It’s time for him to be benched whether it hurts his feelings or not bla bla. He hasn’t scored for ages he has no confidence and he needs to see someone else in his position scoring goals to snap him out of whatever hole he is in and earn his place back in the team. Simple football tactics. Surely Roy you can see this. Hang on.... is benteke sleeping with Roy? Now it makes sense

Well they are linked because if he keeps picking him until Xmas and is still firing blanks both could be out of the door but likely just Roy. Next 4 games are crucial. Need at least 2 or more wins to be head of the game. The next 4 look really tough.

The chances are coming his was, but he is not taking them. Think we need to revert back to what we were doing right at the end of last season, move Wilf & Andros into centre forward positions.

I think we have persisted with the Benteke experiment for too long now...

Question. Is Benteke putting these balls in the net on the training pitch? Is it only during matches that he misses them, or is he really pathologically incapable of hitting a cow's backside with a banjo?

Just wondering.

This thread is just repeating itself with negativity, there is another way of looking at things.
The 2 most exposed positions for criticism is keeper and striker, we all know the dogs abuse that Hennessey took last season, I see those same posters are now singing his praises now. We all know that Benteke has lost that final touch, but he isn't hiding away. I have watched all his recent games and he is getting in positions to score, winning his fair share of headers, his knock downs go to nobody as he has not got runners playing off him most of the time. Some of the crosses into to him are poor, PVA especially, Lucas delivery at corners have been very poor and cleared easily at the near post most times.
If Benteke wasn't getting in the positions to score, then there is a problem, but he is just that final touch.
Sorloth isn't the answer in this league too lightweight. Hopefully Ayew will form a partnership with Benteke and put Zaha back on the wing his best position.

Problem is the alternatives don't look any better at the moment. Ayew was refusing to train at Swansea ?

Wickham is another who gets better and better the longer he's out. I remember a a gifted player who burst into life occasionally but looked like he couldn't be arsed most of the time.

Meyer stuck the ball very nicely on his head. Maybe if he starts with Benteke that’s the answer but we need a better conversion rate than one in 10. Meyer may be a better corner taker than Luka? Maybe Benteke is performing well in training justifying his starting place. Would love to see it on match day. Roy is putting his balls on the line with him if he keeps faith in him and he continues to miss these chances

Benteke is now joining the ranks of Akinbiyi, Andrews, Easter and Adebola as one of the worst strikers we’ve ever had.

The problem is Sorloth looks off the pace for this league and wickham just cannot get himself fit.

Perhaps re-signing sako until jan will give us an short term alternative and just hope we find a team silly enough to take Benteke off our hands.

he isnt, and hasnt turned into a bad player over the past year.

its easy to say but im sure his confidence will come back, for me the main thing is we keep on trying to put those balls on his head. the goals will come.

Don't forget Gareth Taylor and Marco Gabbiadini.

And we thought at the time that Akinbyi was an expensive error....
