I don’t buy it that it’s the other players fault. Maybe I would if he hadn’t scored for say 5 games and he was jumping up and down about the tactics but this is a STRIKER who has scored 3 goals in 2 seasons in a mid table team. If our board continue to ignore our need for an out and out goal scorer effectively forcing our manager to play him due to lack of anyone else then the inevitable will catch up with us. RH is himself a very quiet mannered man who like Benteke would appear to be keeping his head down to protect his salary but eventually all this hiding is going to bite us big time.
Truth is, our chairman, manager and centre forward are all 3 past their sell by dates. Our DoF is either hopeless or not being allowed to perform which is no excuse.
If SP doesn’t accept this situation and sell because he is so in love with the club/himself and the position of power/fame it gives him then I fear we will stagnate or worse from here on.

When did we last have a striker who scored lots of goals? Strikers have come to us on permanent or on loan and generally they have not been a success with us but scored after they left Solorth for a current example. Benteke scored when we played to his strengths, and Murray all those years ago in championship. If we are to play a striker whose main strength is in the air then we need to play to that strength. I agree that he has lost confidence but the only way he will get it back is to start scoring. Ayew in my view is not a target man but better playing off a tall striker. Wickham has over his careeer played both sort of roles. Zaha for all his strengths is not a world class striker but he is a world class winger.

I would to see us play Zaha and Townsend as wingers supplying a front 2 of Wickham/Benteke as the target man with Meyer/ Camarasa as the number 10. I would put Mcarthy,and Luka in Midfield. Due to injuries our back 4 will probably change little however I can see Cahill replacing Dann when fit

That is spot on, Wilf cant play wide, wont do the work anymore, hence no wingers should mean no Benteke, Roy doesn't seem to have grasped that, Ayew or Townsend are the only option to partner Wilf,

I agree, I am done trying to defend him now. Yes his service is s***e but he makes zero runs down the channels, is getting bullied off nearly ever ball now be it on the ground or in the air and one of my biggest problems with him is that he never ever demands the ball or shows like he wants it. If he was to scream at our players then they would give it to him. He is too nice and looks like he is constantly hiding.
