The last two seasons one he had an operation after the second game instead of in the closed season , clubs fault not his . It takes time to get fit after any operation . Second the management have not played to his strength's , he does more work than people on here want to see , there view is he is on the pitch just to score goals that's it . He has had chances and missed so do lots of forwards with better supply to them .
There seem to me that there are a lot of glory hunters [ saying they will give up there season tickets if he is still here next season ] not true Palace supporters . Before anyone asks I have been going to Selhurst through thick and thin for 60 years .

Benteke would have been long gone but for two things.

Firstly his wages. I can't see a queue of clubs willing to match his contract with Palace. Only maybe the Chinese.

Secondly his transfer fee. Palace aren't going to get anywhere near what he cost to bring in.

Result ; stuck with him and no option but to play him as we failed to bring in another striker.

You can make all the excuses for him that you like - injuries, lack of service etc., but he seems to coast through games when he does play and gets paid a fortune for doing so.
I always have that hope that he will rediscover the Benteke of old, but that hope has almost diminished to nothing.

And I strongly hope that the club won't be so silly to renew his contract to avoid losing him for free.
No one will ever buy him at any sum, so we'd better cut the losses and let him go for free.
Renewing his contract and therefore be unable to sign a decent striker for another 2-3 years would be criminal.

Unbelievable that we've not only given Wickham a new contract but are now doing the same to Benteke. At this point I feel like we're either being trolled or it's all a big social experiment. Keira Knightley has got more up front than we've had over the last couple of seasons.

Genuine question, can you name another club with a worse track record with strikers than us? With about 4 exceptions we have signed stinker after stinker for about 20 years now.
