Paul Merson summed it up perfectly on sky.
"Benteke will up his game cos he's been dropped by the national squad"

Benteke did play better, but what were his motives? I believe it wasn't helping Palace, just himself.

Do you think he might have upped his game because we were playing Huddersfield, Zaha was back and we were generally the better side?

Personally, I think what ever he does he does it for himself.

His character shone through after the penalty incident and just his lack of passion, work rate, and goal tally kind of backs it up

Yeah he did ok yesterday but the fact remains he is a striker that poses no goal threat. He will be gone regardless at the end of the season.

You might be right. However, if we are going to sell him for £15 million, then he will be a bargain for someone. I can see him scoring a hatful for Aston Villa, if they get promoted.

I was there and thought that he had a poor game.
He gave the ball away time and time again and was toothless going forward on the whole.
Second half he had a great chance to switch the ball left to an unmarked Townsend but instead ran into no-mans land and gave the ball away again.
His team mates must be sick of him and his attitude

The commentators on the feed I was watching said he just doesn't do enough even on one of his better days like yesterday and we should consider selling in the summer

And then whenever I see bad finishing by trekkers and then the camera goes to Roys face...unless when Zaha and Co miss, it's pure discontent rather than passionate cries.

I don't think Roy wants him here at all

Personally cannot see him being sold next season unless we are relegated. Wickham and Sorloth will be around so if he doesn't perform he can be dropped. Need another striker as well, if he goes would need 2 in my opinion. Look at Bournemouth, they have scored in their last 12 league games from MoD with a whole host of different strikers, King, Wilson, Mousset for Afobe, Defoe. We have struggled with the amount of strikers for seasons now. Need 4. The fourth should also be different to the other 3, a finisher in the box not necessarily an ox.

Agree , he was decent today. I’d like him to nick a few goals before the end of the season, then get a few quid for him. Good ability when he’s interested, but not enough effort , when things aren’t going well, to be a Palace player for me.

This.

Either way we need another striker to compliment Wickham / Sørloth/ Benteke...

Still need a quick striker who's deadly at finishing.

If Benteke comes good great. If not it can't hold us back. Like it is this season.

We create so many chances a top level striker would have a field day with us. Absolutely criminal he's got what two goals? All season...!

If we can hold on to the same midfielders for next season and bring in 2 keepers (one already signed) then next up has got to be TWO strikers. Irrespective of how good Sørloth and Wickham are.

Do we really?

What was behind his excellent performance against Man Utd then?
