scored 17 goals last season.

hes never recovered from the 1st few games then his injury.

confidence is absolutly shot to peices, this season is a write off.

hes clearly not a s*** footballer, im expecting a 15 goal season next time around at least

he is also incredibly isolated in games like yesterday

When one has played most of the season and only netted a paltry 2 goals ones confidence in front of goal is hardly on a high and this showed in his pathetic efforts which went wide.If Jermain Defoe had been in those positions it would have probably been a totally different outcome. But Benteke did flick on the ball to Zaha which led to the penalty. As someone has said, with our lack of options Hodgson had no option but to select Benteke.

Yes he does, bring in Lokilo & Lumeka to the match day squad. Leave Benteke out & play Wilf in the middle, with Lokilo & Townsend either side of him. Lumeka can be brought on for either Lokilo or Townsend; depending on who is having the least impact. We would be more mobile, occupy their defenders more & have a lot more creativity. We certainly would score goals.

You clearly know more about what is required than Roy Hodgson.

But you are entitled to your opinion, although I am not in agreement with it.

Was it benteke that cleared off the line on the 81 minute mark? Did some good defending yesterday and said to the guy next to me in the main stand that makes up for the first miss , funnily, they didnt show it on motd, just wanted to give some stat about missed sitters, i think he will score a few in the next games, but gota look at his all round play to be fair, thats why roy picks him! Yeah, hasn"t got many choices granted, but benteke wins most balls out from keeper , brings wilf into play, and im happy with his contribution to the team effort, granted, he hasn"t had much luck this season, but i feel thats about to change!

He scored 15 in the league last season which may sound good but it is not great when you compare it to game ratio.

He is not that great of goal scorer really you would expect to get maybe 10 out of him is he plays every league game.

He is isolated because he is too lazy to move watch him he jogs around very slowly hardly moving.

The only thing you can give him credit for is defensive duties at corners so on but again why is he even doing that Roy does this and look how it turned out for England maybe he will be taking corners soon.

I got a feeling he will go bang in a few now if not a hatrick before end of season and people will forget how awful he has been

I imagine a certain A.Villa might be at the front of the queue.

Only if they get promoted and can afford his salary. Hate to say it but cannot see where he will go otherwise. Roy believes he has other values than goalscoring.

Agreed,he would have been dropped weeks ago but no other options.Baffles me why we can’t produce our own soloth type players as there must be loads in lower leagues that we can take punts on .

Spot on, particularly as we've been playing with this type of striker for donkey's seasons or donkey striker's for seasons.

for a minute, forget what he cost & what he gets paid and lets just look at the footballer on our hands, i think any striker of his mould, and lets be honest we have 3 in him / sorloth / wickham you are going to be frustrated & cut as a lonely figure at the top of the team, more pften than not theres no support when he brings the ball down, and certainly nobody making runs in behind a flick on. he plays almost all game with his back to goal.

with regards to his closing down, hes not that type of tenacious player like say tevez or suarez is, and hes not blessed with pace so all he is doing is token closing down to hurry the defenders into a pass.

one thing is for sure, he is the best striker we have at the club by some way, and once his confidence comes back he will score goals.

ive nothing against sorloth but i am suprised we signed another big striker in january when really we need that whippet style smaller striker to balance the squad out, and give us another option.

he is earning a lot or money, but in reality all of our squad is earning a f*** load of money so i dont really see that as a stick to best him with.

please look at the below link for PL top scorers over the years. i would counter your comment with my personal opinion that for a club of our standing, 15 goals is a very good return over a 38 game season and puts you in good company.

He's having a terrible season but he's not the only one in the team that can't score with his feet. Yet we still don't play to his obvious strength ... our dreadful corners and terrible crosses don't go anywhere near his head.
