Hodgson and Parish both said some may have to go to bring others in but so far no ones left, either means they were telling fibs or that Jach hasn't taken up much of the budget. Either way I think Dembele is worth blowing the budget slightly for his sell on potential. We could see him hit 50mil with the way our market is growing.

My point was that the regulations prohibit 'blowing the budget', even if it is only slightly. The wages bill has to tally - that was a big factor in us selling Murray and Jedinak when we could probably have still found a use for them.

Even if the club want to go overdrawn, or the owners want to put their hands in their pockets to do it, they might not be able to unless (as others have said on here) we sell first so as to free up wages. But who exactly would we sell? Who would buy any of our big earners, and would we want to lose any of them anyway?

What is more likely is that we release at least half of the players who are out of contract in the summer, free up some wages and make a permanent signing then. For now I'd guess a loan is more likely.

Someone said that we're only 30% of full potential... Time to raise the bar!
Buy Dembélé and in the future we'll be grateful.

There's plenty of solutions, for instance (the values are an example):
Pay 16M. and leave 25% of the rights for Celtic;
Pay 5M. for loan with a acquisition option plus 15M;

How Paris Saint Germain bought Mbappé???

Yes, because he's hardly likely to say he's thrown a strop and wants out, were it the case.

The 21-year-old has been an unused substitute for the past two games, with Rodgers admitting that he had been affected by transfer speculation.

And if you don't think he'd like to move and double his money, or at the very least increase it, you're mad.

So does a player have to ask to leave for a transfer to proceed?

My comment was in response to a post which infered that Dembele wanted to leave Celtic whereby Rodgers said he has never asked to move.

Of course transfers can occur in a variety of circumstances - this provides an answer to your question.

The same Brendan Rodgers who said this about Suarez:

"There will come a point where he'll recognise the club is not going to sell"

As I mentioned transfers can occur due to various circumstances.Perhaps when Rodgers uttered those words that was the Liverpool position at that time.

In terms of Dembele, Rodgers has said that he hasn't given any indication he wishes to leave and I have no reason to doubt his word.That said, players heads DO get turned and mindsets can change dramatically !

It might well have been their position, but that doesn't mean that the statement didn't prove to be false.

As such you have been given reasons to doubt his words. A statement or quote from somebody is not a categorical fact.

At the end of the day it is highly possible that Rodgers was only laying out Liverpool's position at that time. If so, he cannot be criticised for the fact that the situation changed.Without being privy to the facts, I'm not going to accuse Rodgers for making a statement he knew to be wrong.

Same for Dembele - Rodgers has said he has never asked to leave and I have no reason to doubt this is the case.As per Suarez, I am not going to accuse Rodgers of making a knowingly incorrect statement.

Yep, he also said they only have one offer (Brighton's 18Mil i guess) and it was way off their evaluation.
So everyone can stop dreaming. he isn't going anywhere

Good job Celtic never thought of that
