Thought that was a really frustrating performance. Played so weakly in defence with no aggression or bite. Thought their first two goals were soft, especially the second, which was awful from Benteke. The only time we really got in their faces they were rocked by it, then we went back into standing off. Should have just gone at them from the start and battled them. Benteke was so weak and lacked aggression. Really sick of him now. One goal all season is a joke for such an expensive player. Sako was just garbage when he game on, surprise surprise. Kelly was w*** all night, and at fault for the first goal. Loftus Cheek one of the most overrated players we've had IMHO. Decent in short bursts, but so inconsistent and drifts out of games, wasteful tonight too.

Tomkins played ok, and Zaha was our only threat going fwd. We really are such a one man band it's embarrassing. Luka was ok but gives the ball away too cheaply. Lots of easily intercepted chips and floated balls instead of drilling them...

Sorry to sound overly critical, but that game really got to me, far more than many recent ones TBH. Just thought they were there for the taking, and we weren't up for it. Point(s) dropped IMHO.

I don't think we were as good as we can be which is disappointing but there were patches of the match where I thought we imposed ourselves and we looked good. We pressed them high and they made mistakes.

Wilshere is nowhere near as good as De Bruyne though and we will get murdered if we give him the amount of room on Sunday that we gave Wilshere tonight. So much of Man City's play comes through him.

My suggestion would be to put the defender with the greatest stamina on a man to man marking job on De Bruyne, basically follow him over the whole pitch and don't give him an inch.

And leave Benteke out for MacArthur....need no free passengers when Pep comes to town!

The problem is that when we go up against teams with less quality than Arsenal we downgrade our performance accordingly.

I'm not 100% sold on this myself but could it not be that we do better against attacking teams, when they're not worried about losing they tend to come forwards more, the smaller teams are more worried about losing so park the bus more, just a thought.

Shackling De Bruyne would be useful but you can guarantee that Silva will return from Spain and run us a merry dance like he always does. Need to shackle him as well. Unfortunately they have so much quality they will find the space. Who knows they will come a cropper one game, let's hope it is Sunday.

I thought Jules had a good game. One save in particular from Ozil.

Someone who was really poor and could have won us the game tonight was L-Cheek. Near the end he first shot into three Arsenal defenders when Wilf was ahead and to his right and available in front of goal and then a few moments later shot selfishly versus passing. Really pissed me off that he has admitted he wants to start scoring, But don't try to do it for the glory at the wrong time. Be a team player Ruben!

I see your point but from what I've seen of them this season it is De Bruyne who instigates a lot of their attacks passing to Silva etc. I know Silva is an excellent player but it seems to be De Bruyne who gives the ball to him a lot. One thing is for certain we can't give either the room we gave Wilshere this evening.

I count 2/3 where if he had bothered to run across his defender he would have had a tap in. But he didn’t, because he stands idle.

The ‘he’s getting no service’ line is the most short sighted used on this site, If hes not moving into the right areas, none of the crosses are going to be ‘quality’.

If he gambles and scores 2/3 tap ins, the service was excellent.

Yeh I guess, if he moved across the defenders he’d score 2/3 a game, just like the last prolific premier league Palace striker, I forget his name.... scape goating on this site, always one player, mental. There were plenty of players that made mistakes tonight, support the team, they win and they lose.

Not scape goating anyone, thought Tekkers general work ethic and contribution tonight was pretty decent.

Just making the point that you can’t blame a ‘lack of quality service’ if you don’t have a striker that is prepared to gamble into the mixer. He does that, taps in, the ball looks good.

A winger who has to use skill and is running at pace before putting a ball in isn’t always going to drop it onto his head, the fact they’re putting it into a dangerous area (i.e between the defender but far enough away from the keeper) would make it enough of a quality ball if we had a striker who every now and then decided to give everything to get on the end of something.

Think this is rather harsh. It was from Sako's cross that Zaha headed wide, and although he missed a good chance himself, Sako showed good energy when he came on. I can't see how Kelly was directly reponsible for the first goal as the cross came from from the other side of the area. Arsenal a very good side but if our finishing had been better (a familiar refrain) we could have got a draw or even a win. I think we can take positives out of this, but let's rest our best players against City and go again against Southampton.
