Very much agree re Holloway. And he was decent enough to hold his hands up early to say he was out of his depth so that we could bring someone in who wasn't. Warnock wasn't a great appointment (although I happen to like him), but was understandable as a short-term emergency measure in desperate circumstances. Looking beyond a 2 year window with regard to managing in the Premiership is completely pointless unless you're Arsenal...where I suspect the reason Wenger is still there is because it is lower risk for the Board to keep him than to play the new manager lottery. Silva and Pellegrino are decent managers: Watford looked the better team when we beat them and Southampton were way superior to us for the first 45 yesterday. But, like us, they are clubs where the loss of a couple of key players has a major impact and they don't have spare top-class players sitting on the bench. Then the league is so tight that a couple of narrow losses and a draw will see you drop from mid-table into the sticky stuff again, and suddenly the manager's a flop and needing to be replaced. My one hope is that Hodgson leads us out for our first match in the Premiership next season. That kind of continuity is something we have barely managed since we've been in the Prem. The problem for three of the last four seasons has been having to rebuild the management team. If we can keep Roy until the end of next season then we should be hopefully going somewhere.

Roy should stay for as long as he wants... let him build a team over a few seasons and then once he's ready to retire he'd surely be useful upstairs as some kind of head of football along side Dougie. Let's hope Parish doesn't piss him off... Give him a lengthy contract I'd say...

Ferguson and Wenger are the exceptions. We're lucky that Hodgeson oversaw the debacle of England - Before that he was something unusual - a proven track record manager with a long history of moderate success. Quite right, every manager appointment at EVERY club is always a bit of a gamble, whatever the name, whatever the club.

We are two points above the relegation zone. All this conjecture about future managers is ridiculously premature. We need to friggin' stay up first and that is by no means certain.

Not sure if you’ve seen the form table and points per game average since Roy has been here? We’re two points above the drop zone purely based on the FDB experiment. Roy has half a season now to garner as many points as he can. We won’t be going down mate. Not by a long chalk.

Your post infers that only Parish has made cock ups, every Chairman in the Premiership bar Arsenal have sacked their manager in the last 3 seasons. Therefore he isn't the only one, nobody is perfect in life.
