Morning/Afternoon Palace fans,

Boro fan here who comes in peace, I'm well aware of the acrimonious nature of his departure but I'm genuinely interested in the impact you felt Pulis had on your club, how was he received? How was the football? I recall enjoying watching you shock teams on MOTD and seemed to play with some flair at times.

I'm expecting dull but ultimately effective. Honest and preferably not too heavily tainted opinions?

Cheers all and good luck for with the season 👍

TP wasn't really here long enough to give a solid opinion IMHO. But he was liked, the team responded well, he got us out of sh1t. I like the man. I'd prefer him to Pardew anyday.

Pulis is an interesting one. There is no doubt he did a great job for us in keeping us in the premier league. He inherited a team full of pace and utilised it, making us an effective counter attacking side.

Unfortunately, it became clear from what he was asking for from the transfer market that where he utilised the pace of a bolasie for instance, he didn't like players like him who were unpredictable. Pulis much prefers a James McClean type player.

When it became clear we could get Zaha back pulis wasn't happy. Clearly, it is now proven that pulis was wrong to suggest we ignore such an oppprtunity. He was also looking to get out the club dishonestly, demanding we pay his bonus in full so he could buy a property, before fcuking off as soon as the funds were in his bank. This isn't speculation, a court of law agreed and he had to pay the club 3m in damages.

So in short, decent manager, doesn't like flair players and over time the football you play will reflect this and a dishonest Cnut who tried screwing our chairman and lost big time.

He wasn't here long enough to 'Pulisize' the team and in those few months he did an amazing job of getting the best out of our average players and the flair players. Did the simple things with amazing results.

As to what would've happened if he'd stayed after a full preseason and had the opportunity to do things the Pulis way rather make the best of what he inherited... Who knows?

I certainly wouldn't bet against him doing well with Boro. Great manager in that sort of mould? No doubt. Dishonest snake who will always look after no.1? No doubt.

Good luck!

As others said did a good job with us. His departure from us suggested that he is strong willed in relation to owners, so may have a future rocky road with Gibson.

Yeah I'm aware of the circumstances and alluded to them in my OP. My personal feeling at the time was that Pulis had been very sly in the way he'd behaved on that issue but that his 'survival bonus' should still have been paid even if he wanted to leave the club.

I hope he doesn't have a change of heart and bail on us as it's a long way to travel for him. That said i like the cut of his jib, what he says sits well with our supporters so far.

I'd take effective counter attacking over clueless possession that we had under Monk!

Appreciate the opinions lads.

Impossible to overstate how amazing our turnaround was under him. We had the weakest team in the division by a long way, and really lacked any quality. Not just to escape, but to finish 11th was miraculous.

The football wasn't awful hoofball (the same can be said for our time under Allardyce). Bolasie was a crucial outlet, as much for his ability to carry the ball up the pitch as anything else. In defence the wingers would drop back so that we effectively had a back 6, and defenders like Ward played better than they ever did before or since.

How it'll work with a team like Boro looking to dominate the league and gain promotion, I'm not sure - we played pure counter-attacking football, and I think that in subsequent seasons, Pulis would have experienced what every subsequent Palace manager has: when teams come to Selhurst to play against our pacy counter-attacking side, they just sit back and nullify us completely.

Won't comment on the departure or transfer rumours in the summer, as it's all very murky. Suffice it to say that walking out when he did was a dick move, and the guy is clearly very dodgy (e.g. at Gillingham).

Undoubtedly, has the know how to stabilise and reinvigorate a team. Had some incredible results under him ... the most memorable for me being our come back 0-3 down to a superb Liverpool team who were on the brink of taking the Premiership title. Have no idea what happened regarding his resignation but walking out a few days before the start of a new season was unforgivable.

Great manager, greedy, manipulative despicable person.
Google 'Pulis Gillingham court case' - we weren't the first to be screwed over by him, and I doubt we will be the last.

Cheers lads. Good insights. All he's done since he got here is big up Gibson in every way possible and Gibson is notable for the time and respect he offers his managers. He's a proper bloke and football man and i think if anything they'll have a lot in common. Gibson won't try screwing him or taking advantage and he will back him, i hope we get chance to play you in the prem next year

Never mind all this Pulis stuff can you let us know how Patrick Bumfluff is getting along up there.

We had him on loan for a while and he was absolutely dreadful.

Had nothing about him, no physicality, pace or skill.
