How many times do we hear this though? We need a strong match winning keeper that instilles confidence and belief and a fighting ethos into our team right from the back. Then we won’t have to keep debating the same point of whether the game was lost because of the goalkeeper or not, over and over again.

Do people not remember a time when this debate didn’t happen all the time? Because I do. And it’s so frustrating!

Because you bring it up every game that WH plays yet ignore any goals that JS lets in!

This isn’t about last night. I’ve nit once mentioned Wayne’s performance in my previous post. I haven’t even mentioned Wayne’s name in my previous post for god sake man. Me agreeing that we need a new goalkeeper that can save us matches and be strong at the back is not a slant on Henessey. It’s agreeing with this subject and putting my point across as to why I agree. Stop being so hyper sensitive.

The thread was started last night by someone moaning about Hennessey's performance yesterday and you have already made SEVEN contributions to the thread. OK, so you haven't mentioned Hennessey by name but we all know what you are talking about in your posts so don't pretend otherwise.

Sorry mate but Speroni is clearly past his prime and is a good back up solution but not a viable n°1 and concerning Hennessey he is able of the best and the worst and more often the worst than the best his game against City was incredible but his performance yesterday was very very poor and it's been the case for far too long we can't say Hennessey hasn't had the chances he has been our n°1 for 3 years now and it has gone from bad to worse... He only cost us 1.6M at the time so definetly a good signing but we need to move on and get a new keeper ! Guaita wouldn't be my first choice because I would like someone younger to fix this long going issue for the nex 5 years... But signing someone is now an OBLIGATION !

All this debating goalkeepers is pointless, it's the defensive unit as a whole that concede goals,
GK considered as good and in the England squad have conceded many goals this season.
Pickford. 34
Butland 47

Are they held responsible for every goal, no their defence is poor in front of them.

Do people really think that getting a new keeper, we will concede less goals with our current defence?

Well the issue here is for both goals Hennessey is literally the only person responsible the first goal is a clear positioning fault a player should never be able to score inbetween the first post and the keeper! And the second one Hennessey should be on it of course someone is going to try and push the ball in the net at the second post with such a direction.
Hennessey doesn't comand inside his box and that damages us and also doesn't help the back four... Sorry but in the other keepers case I am okay to argue especialy for Butland because he is a top keeper but for Hennessey I can't find anything to excuse him now...

Not sure if Mr Henry was in action for the Under 23's. However, I am sure that a goalkeeper can be expected not to need the recovery time of an outfield player. It would have been nice to see him in action - First Team Game Time for him; advice to BHA that third choice players are good enough to be put up against them. COYP

Generally no - perhaps the odd goal here and there - but we'd have to spend a LOT of money to get someone that good, money which would be better spent on another forward or a better defender (or two). Whether WH or JS plays - they will make the odd good save and make the odd mistake. People need to accept that.

Speroni v Arsenal? No difference.

Butland has let in 47 goals in 22 games, don't tell me he is top keeper and has never let a goal in at his near post. Hennessy kept a clean sheet against free scoring Man City, not bad for a keeper that damages us.

Responsibility for the 1st goal is shared between 3 players. Cabaye jumped in to a tackle allowing the player to get into the penalty area. Delaney (all night) was out of position and too slow attempting to get across to tackle, which allowed the striker to set himself and shoot powerfully, although Hennessey should have had a firmer hand blocking the shot.

Neither Hennessey or Speroni are good enough to be a Premiership first choice keeper, but De Gea would have struggled to keep a clean sheet last night with Kelly and especially Delaney in front of him!
