Surely you must have watched Asamoah Gyan or Emenike play at the World Cup or at the African Cup of Nations. Or even in the Premier League. Obafemi Martins too, he's that guy who used to be voted fastest in the world when at Inter Milan. Or from Levante a few years ago.

Nils Petersen was at Bayern, come on, you must know him. Ola John was in the UEFA Champions League with Twente and a little in the Netherlands national team. Make an effort and you'll remember. Or look them up.

Maybe Hernani from Porto or Jony or Alessandrini are a little less known, but they're from top football, not third tiers or something.

Sadly I don't get as much time to watch european/world football. May have seen then play but my memories not what it was. Started to Google them and gave up after Gyan, who's now 32, well past his best and last played in England in 2011, and Emenike, who played 13 league games for west ham in 2015 without scoring a goal, and so far this season played 5 games for olympiakos without scoring.
But hey, sure they'd do well for palace...

Emenike's true stats:

4 goals in 500 minutes for Olympiakos this season (didn't play much because of a conflict with the manager, but qualified them to the Champions league)

8 goals and 5 assists in 1400 minutes for Fenerbahce (including 3 goals in the Champions League play-offs against last year's Monaco with the entire gang: Mbappe, Falcao, Bernardo Silva, Lemar, Sidibe, Mendy etc )

2 goals in 800 minutes for West Ham (for which he was used mostly as a winger, which he isn't)- ok, 0 goals in 500 minutes in the Premier League, but like I said, he played out of position. Plus, there are a tone of strikers who may go 500 minutes and not score a goal, it's happened to the best of them

12 goals and 9 assists in 2200 minutes for Fenerbahce before that

24 goals and 8 assists in 3600 minutes for Spartak Moscow before that

So you can see that he pretty much has 1 goal or 1 assist every 100 minutes every season the last 7 years. That's consistency.
A first tier La Liga team which got him this winter seems to agree with me.
You should check out his actual playing time before you say things like "hasn't scored at all in 5 matches". Ok, you were talking about league matches, but that doesn't encompass everything he did at that club. If he got sent in for 10 minutes every match, it doesn't look that bad that he hasn't scored in 5, does it?

Managers man...managers. You know how nobody used Mariano Diaz in Real Madrid and he's now flying in France for Lyon. They want him back but don't have a buyback option.
Also, how Mourinho ignored de Bruyne, Salah and Lukaku while at Chelsea. How van Gaal ignored di Maria. How Pochettino ignored Paulinho. How Mertens didn't play much for the Belgium national team. How Coutinho was kicked out of Inter.

Managers.....

Scouts man. Every premiership team has scouts all around the world, yet none picked up any of the players you've recommended. Sort of tells you something.

What do you mean none picked up the players I talked about?
They're players under contract, they're in big clubs.
Petersen is playing in Freiburg. Hernani is in Porto, they want money to let him go (not everyone can pay 3 million). Gyan is earning good in Turkey, he doesn't really care about playing football anymore. Obafemi Martins is earning twice that in China!! They'd only leave their clubs for Premier League salaries, for a PL team.
Alessandrini has just recently been offered a mega-contract in the MLS.
Emenike was he only one actually free and Las Palmas snapped him up.

But the PL is attractive. It has the highest salaries. Crystal Palace has enough money to convince such players (or at least had, cause the transfer period is over)

Read my post properly. ....not one premiership club signed any of these wonderful players, despite most desperate for a new forward......why?

You won't believe this, but bottom line is......there are only 13 PL clubs who could sign them (cause top 6 are at another level and Everton is full of stars up front).

Out of those 13 a lot tried to sign Andone, Ze Luis or Niasse this summer. The bids were insufficient.
Why didn't they try to sign players like Jony or Hernani or Alessandrini? My guess is that their recruitment system is pretty poor.
Despite what you may think of this being the top professional league in the world, we still have managers like Alan Pardew, David Moyes or Claude Puel having the final saying.

Claude Puel transferred a player to Leicester simply because he had seen his son's matches in Ajaccio.
And he liked Fousseni Diabate, his son told him that he;s great in training ) He paid 2 million for this unknown 22 year old player. He hasn't stormed Ligue 2, he's not even as famous as Lys Mousset was when Bournemouth bought him. There are more 22 yo players out there who have played better than Fousseni, but Puel never watched them.

Also, many of the 13 PL which you say could have bought them already have enough options up front.

I'd say Leicester have Vardy, Mahrez, Demarai Gray, Albrighton, Iheanacho.

Southampton has now Carrillo, Austin, Ward Prowse, Tadic, Shane Long, Redmond.

West Ham has Chicharito, Antonio, Lanzini, Arnautovic.

Brighton has Knockaert, Izquierdo, Gross, Locadia.

Newcastle has Slimani, Matt Ritchie, Josh Murphy, Gayle, Ayoze Perez.

Bournemouth has Callum Wilson, Josh King, Stanislas, Ryan Fraser.

Watford has Richarlison, Andre Gray, Carillo, Roberto Perreyra.

Stoke has Shaqiri, Choupo-Moting, Diouf.
Swansea has Narsingh, Tammy Abraham, Andre Ayew.
WBA has Chadli, Matt Phillips, Sturridge.
Huddersfield has Mounie, Tom Ince, Pritchard.
Burnley didn't really have good attacking players except for Chris Wood, but now bought Lennon and N'Koudou.

For Crystal Palace, good attacking players for the Premier League I see only Zaha and Townsend. Therefore, making it the club with the most pressing need to strengthen in the offensive area. Other clubs may not have pursued attacking players because they didn't need them.
I'd take all of the above mentioned players at Palace. Maybe not as starters, but they'd surely be handy in the squad.

In relation to the transfer window within Europe I think some fallout might of occurred in relation to FdB. Sacking him early clearly was the correct decision but whatever his faults he is a very well known name in other countries and some players might of been wary and narrowed our field a little.

Peterson looks pretty good. Can score with his feet and head, can create a goal on his own and hustles for loose garbage in front as well. mill seems like it would be very good business.

Who would have thought this unknown guy would make the German national team 27 men preselection squad for the World Cup?
Ahead of strikers from Bayern Munich or Borussia Dortmund.

Actually, where are now all the suggestions I gave on this thread or on other threads? What have these strikers done instead of Benteke?

Have you contacted Dougie with a brief on potential targets? Give him links of past players you've identified and have gone on to success (maybe mention the flops too)

I am serious.

You make a good point about a lack of professionalism in many clubs. A lot of folk on here share that opinion about our club. We could do with a few dead certs in our pocket for when agents and players' clubs start playing silly buggers to get an auction.

I don't know who Dougie is or how to reach him.
I doubt he'll listen to me or read my mails anyway. Thing is...people at every club think they know best, they're not going to listen to a stranger's opinions.

I don't need a job in football. I just like to share my opinions with fellow football fans. And prove that I'm right! It's a good feeling
