Now that the comrades appear to have defected, is it possible to admit that I am an elderly Conservative voter who doesn't spit on street sleepers, paint swastikas on synagogues, stand outside Labour conference venues with placards saying "Hang the filthy lefty scum", advocate public hangings, and so on and so forth. If so, blessed relief! Presumably I will not get a spat of bile and malice as they have loftily refused any further interaction with the racist and vile rightist swine (especially Peter Guntrip) who spread their evil doctrines under the guise of football supporting sites? Only joking, mods!

I had a proclivity to stay well clear of the 'Politics' threads indeed in recent times never took the trouble to even peruse them. The views I would have expressed would have been the polar opposite to those who have now defected to the BBS and as sure as night follows day, the debates would have disintegrated into tedious and sometimes odious WILLO threads with bile and opprobrium not only de-railing the threads but being a poor substitute for sensible and reasonable debate. Outside of HOL I enter into a number of political discussions (Far too often as far as my wife is concerned !) so I have been happy to give them the good old "Body swerve" on HOL and not dignify some of the comments by providing a response. I was pointed in the direction of HoL without knowing of the BBS and stayed. I spend too much work time on here, the last thing I need is another site to waste time on. I (now) know way more people who post on the BBS but I quite like that most of the people on here are strangers.
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |
