I didn't think it was a penalty at the time, and I didn't after any of the replays either. A studio full of strikers was hardly impartial input either.

Only bad thing is that Chelsea now have 2 players banned, and they've got Brighton on Saturday.

Optimistic as ever

I think misconduct although Henry got away with it against Ireland so I can't see anything happening unless there is (or has been) a rule change.

yeah this was what i was wondering about. he's cheated, thought this would be a ban of some sort.

I figured Sweet Fanny Adams would produce an almooty cick up (don't you love Constable Crabtree) & they came through again. I don't know who has the worst replay system, MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL or FA?

I think the tackle is not on his leg but well ahead of it. Then he trails his leg to make the contact. We need to get away from the idea that: going down looking for it is acceptable. I get rather angry when commentators say: there was contact, yes and..... since when is contact synonym for fouling?

Indeed.

There is contact all over the pitch but not every contact is a foul.

Alan Pardew commenting on the use of VAR in the Liverpool 2-3 WBA cup tie The points he raises are those made by many others. Taking three minutes to make a decision is two minutes too long. The flow of the match was ruined. This is the danger of VAR, that officials will rely on it too much and the tempo of the game will be lost. Eventually, it may come to pass that we won't know if a goal is really a goal, just like in the NFL a catch is not a catch if one guy sitting in an office building on Park Avenue, NYC says it isn't. This is not the way forward and if this is the best they can do, junk it.

Football VAR needs to look at Rugby where the referee refers decisions he wants clarifying to a video referee. They look at footage from different cameras and angles and makes decision for the referee on the field.
Rugby also show these on the screens in the ground so supporters there are kept involved.
This would help speed up the process and stop the delay for supporters where nothing happens for them!

Also the FA must act to stop players surrounding, harassing and pressurising officials in order to try and influence or overturn decisions.

Wise words. It needs some time and evolution. The fact that it on occasions disrupts the flow of the game does not mean VAR in itself is the problem. Many things disrupts the flow of the game, excessive fouling (Huddersfield or Bournemouth at home), feigning Injury, time wasting. Yet we all accept that this is part of the game. Of course 3 mins is way too long, but VAR needs to be used more intensively not disregarded as useless.
