I don't want to be anyone's second team. That's the kind of patronising sentiment reserved for a plucky underdog who doesn't truly represent s threat to their main team. We've been in the league for 5 years now, can beat anyone on our day and, sorry to be a b******, but I want it to hurt as much as possible when we do!

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

Agree but I do like the idea of being a favoured away venue and people looking after us when we go away. Some of the best times of my life going to away games and getting bought beers by the locals. Blades fans on days we played Wednesday springs to mind.

The only reason why glory hunting gits like us, is because palace don’t challenge for honours

If we all of a sudden made the champions league or won the FA cup three or four times in the next few years, you just watch the admiration turn to envy and hate

The only fans who have a gripe with us as things stand are real fans of smaller clubs like Brighton and Millwall and Charlton

Ok ok so yea there are real fans who grew up minutes from Highbury and old Trafford too I know I know. But you see the point in making

You watch your fantasy football playing, big club supporting colleagues at work change their opinion of palace if we become a top top side

It’s only cos we are ‘little palace’ do they show the love

I was in a restaurant (in Miami) a couple months back, the server was from Israel, he was going to college here.
First thing he asked me was about the EPL, when i told him i was a Palace fan, he got all excited, telling me he was a Chelsea fan (wont hold it against him), but his second favorite was Palace because the games always have great atmosphere, and its never a boring game.

I was quite taken aback. Of course, he could have just been looking for a bigger tip, but he knew stuff about palace, so i gave him the benefit of the doubt.

Many fans of other Teams I have talked to recently,Chelsea,Spurs,Arsenal,W Ham etc, have much to my surprise commented on how they like and respect Palace and its fans.I do wonder if this something others have experienced.
I am sure its not a sentiment felt by those from the Brighton area (which I maintain is a Fake issue manufactured by brightons fanbase as Millwall have historically been our'Rivals')
But my question is, Are we becoming many fans second favourite team/club?
I certainly don't have a problem with it!

It was only a year or so ago that I read on the Liverpool fans' forum a description of our supporters: "A bunch of noisy c*nts". Funnily enough, I took that as not malicious and almost a compliment.

In America, the Palace story resonates because of all the adversity. Twice bankrupt, almost liquidated and yet a colorful club with flair. It also helps that the club has idiosyncrasies that we Yanks identify with "being British/English." Our name is also seen as being typically and a loveable British name. Some even ask me where our Palace is and does the Queen live there.

I hope you lie! Yes Her Majesty has a flat above Sainsburys and I'm sure Harry had a trial.

Before the World cup in 66 there was support for letting Scousers into Wembley for their noise, so them calling us noisy now...wow. definitely a compliment. I can't wait for all those so called top sides to hate Palace as it means they afear Palace.
