SP fault on that

Why we are not pushing to get it back to category 1 rating is shocking really how we let to decline so badly.

Thought we were. Surely ensuring Premier league status is the priority

you could use that excuse every season

it has shown we keep needing to spend on signings yet we could pump money into youth and I have not seen anything detailing a proper plan to get back to cat 1

Comparisons to CMS are not inspiring, it has to be said.

There were comparisons regarding their respective impressive workrates, harrying and chasing opponents and putting them under pressure.Benteke of course has been criticised in this respect !

So he's an up and coming Frazier Campbell then. Yay ;-)

Well I think Simon's head is large; always involved in espionage. (Name that tune)

They are trying. Problem is have you ever tried buying a huge lump of land in South East London?

Strange one they have dropped to bottom category which is more suited to people in football league.

They must think they don't have a chance going up against others so not going to bother to fund it anymore

We used to be Cat 1 so I do not see how that is the problem

Then try to keep up with developments before you start grumbling.

We've never been cat 1, we have always been cat 2 since the new grading was introduced.

Went to Goals on Coppers Cope Rd this summer (just down from our training ground)and CPFC are paying a lot of money to improve the pitches there to assist the academy (who use them)

Cat 2 appears to be fine from a facilities perspective and clearly this doesn't guarantee success re players coming through anyway.

In the mid 80s Mullery even stopped out youth team to save money, when it was re-started on a small budget we still produced John Salako so sometimes it's the ability of the player and not the academy - is this more luck and timing??

I would also like to know why players such as Gomez at Liverpool went to Charlton rather than us. He went to Forest Hill school in Sydenham , only a few miles away from Beckenham.

Maybe it's our talent spotting that's the biggest problem

As I posted on Benteke-Batshuayi thread, I watched Marriot for Peterborough against Lincoln City on Tuesday. He was fast and played mainly on the left although right footed. He was ineffectual and showed nothing to suggest he could step up to a higher level, but was substituted at half-time and may have been carrying a knock. His goals record suggest Tuesday's performance was not typical. I went to the game hoping to make it a kind of "scouting mission", but couldn't say much after his performance. Great game incidentally: Lincoln City won 4-2 and could now face Chelsea Under 21s as the stupid organisors opened this lower-league team competition to Premiership U21s. Many Lincoln fans are boycotting the games due to this.

It was actually the League 1 and League 2 clubs which voted in favour of retaining the U21 teams, which incidentally are not all from the PL.I think the majority vote was 67%.

It’s a big ask for Marriott tomstep up from league 1 to PL. I can see why Eder is a big attraction for Palace, if he actually wanted to come!
