I saw that, but does that make the victory "deserved"? Gambling on luck from set pieces? I don't think so. Its an awful way of playing football and a disgraceful way of playing home games. Or am I losing the plot, having still a vague idea football is about entertainment?

If we had played like Swansea and got the victory we would all be delighted. If we had lost an "Entertaining" game 4-3 we would have been upset !

Overall the game tonight was certainly not a spectacle because of the way Swansea approached the game but in the circumstances it was understandable and they got more than they ever expected to get - they would have taken a draw.

Johan, the trouble with this League is you now clearly have the Top 6.
They play for the title and Europe.
You then this season have Burnley,Leicester who have accumulated
Enough points and then the remaining 12 teams trying to stay up.
Swansea had no intention of attacking yet won and Newcastle played similar against Man City and lost.
It’s now try to get to 40 ASAP.

Well alaneagle, we can be entertained as much in the Second division as in the Prem. What do you prefer?

Congratulations to Swansea, they showed real resilience when under the cosh. Our destiny is in our own hands, no more performances like against Arsenal please!

The Premier League is where the entertainment is. If playing a certain way keeps a team up at the expense of entertainment, then you can bank on it that a team will sacrifice entertainment to stay in the big league. They can then work in a way to be more entertaining next season. Makes perfect sense to me.

Will be happy for Palace to improve one position each season.
And hopefully Win something.

I’m sure most of you get as concerned as I do when we see a top six side has dropped points to a team around us especially when, as now, we are in a relegation battle. It might be that the lower team has played particularly well, but it’s often the case that, for whatever reason, the other side simply doesn’t turn up. I’m naming no names, but I think we can all tell when a team hasn’t put in a decent shift.

Having a bit of time on my hands, I thought I would carry out a quick analysis of the points dropped this season by the top six when playing our closest rivals. For the purposes of this, I’ve considered every team from Watford down as a rival.

Not surprisingly, none of our rivals have taken points off Man City. Man Utd have conceded 4 points to rival teams, Chelsea 3 (as well as 3 to us), Liverpool 6, Spurs 5 and Arsenal 12 (although they always seem to play out of their skins against us).

We have picked up 4 points from top six sides, as have Stoke and Swansea. Watford and West Ham have picked up 5, Bournemouth, WBA and Huddersfield 3, Southampton and Newcastle 1. Brighton have not yet gained anything from a top six side.

In summary, points taken from the top six have been shared around pretty equally amongst us bottom-feeders, but for sheer generosity Arsenal take some beating (or rather they don’t if you catch them on the right day).

I found Swansea's bus parking very dull. I know we all have to do it a bit, but still...So little intent. Liverpool panicked a bit when they fell behind and it became clear Salah was off form.

You may have found it very dull. Go and ask the Swansea fans what thought about it and I think you might get slightly a different assessment! Huge 3 (confidence boosting) points for them.
If we had defended better against Arsenal on Saturday (or just defended at all for 25 mins), managed to snatch the lead and then parked the bus would you have said the same thing?

Exactly, it may not be entertaining but it is a necessary tactic for teams like Swansea against teams like Liverpool. My view is if, having spent millions on great players and they cannot break down a defence in 90 minutes whose fault is that? Unfortunately this will become more the norm over the years as the top clubs pull further away with their spending power.

At the end of the day...it’s a results game.

We would have done exactly the same to get a 1-0 over Liverpool.

They are now fighting for their lives...just like us!
