I get all of the frustration and attacks that Hennessey gets, but for me it all misses the point. The guy is the same keeper he has been since we signed him. He is a professional, and goes out there trying to do his best every single week. He just doesn’t have the ability to consistently perform for us week in and week out. So he had a long run then we signed Mandanda. I don’t know what went on between him and Allardyce but things didn’t work out. Then in the next transfer window, we decided to.......not replace Mandanda. We were unable to sign a goalkeeper, so where does the blame lie for Hennessey’s poor performances, with Hennessey, or with the club hierarchy who failed to replace him? Now we are in for another keeper, and it’s schoolboys once again on transfers, long protracted mess of a process with 100 conflicting media reports out there. I just hope that we don’t foul up the remaining days of this window like we did the last for the last one, and we actually get a keeper signing crawling over the finish line.
