You don't know that. We might have bid 24m for Sakho and Liverpool, mindful it was our best price, mightn't have tried to screw us for a few more mill. Total price of 17m or so for Sorloth? I'll eat my arse if we didn't over pay given he cost them about 350k and was still very green (No matter how good he was looking for his team).

Something very fundamental needs to be adjusted in how we operate.

Your not really applying a fair comparison. Inter-Nordic transfers for an untested player will always appear peanuts compared with buying into the premier league with its prices wholly inflated by TV money and the filter-down effect of mega transfers within premier European clubs.

As to whether Sorloth meets his value, at today's prices circa 10 goals and 10 assists a season will probably do it [or something?].

Well for a club that does not know how to do transfers we currently sit unlucky for some 13th.
The highest we will get in the foreseeable future is 7th.
So in my book we are doing ok.
And yes I would support your Gran, hopefully she doesn’t moan as much as her Grandson.

Classic...pure class answer.....well done Al

Whilst the three additions will hopefully start to improve the back up strength in the squad, we did not fully address the two key areas of a striker and a goalkeeper. In addition we have 7 players out of contract in the summer, of which at least 3 due to age/ability should not be retained, and Ward has stated he will not be signing a new contract. There are also 2 loan players that will return to their clubs. Consequently in summer we will need to bring in quite a large number of players, and in some positions ie goalkeeper and right back we need more than one signing in both positions.
With this dilution of the squad we have to start making signings early in summer to integrate them in to the squad. Overall on this basis I believe it was not a good window and is stacking up problems for further down the line

We don't know what Division we will be playing in next season.
If we are relegated, which is a distinct possibility, that revolving door will be very much in use.

In terms of our activity in this 'Window' it would appear that we have brought in squad players who are not really challenging for a starting berth as opposed to the likes of WBA,Swansea,Newcastle and Brighton etc etc.

lot's of supposition as usual from many on here. The only fact is that the same making all of this supposition weren't at any of the negotiations or any of the club management meetings regarding any prospective players coming to the club and hence knew absolutely nothing about what was being done to bring new players in.

We know the price wanted of these players and we know we tried to do deals last minute. Are you confident this keeper will choose us over the rest of our league or will we end up signing someone else for the same price or possibly more? That's a fairly possible outcome.

Continuation of our current run of form would see us secure our Premier League status for another season. However, we have only 4 attacking players (including a striker untried in this League and not match fit as he has not played since early December. Injuries/suspensions to any of these 4 will leave us short of players and that in itself could make relegation very likely!

I can help you there Willo,if we are relegated we will return to The Championship, however there is a distinct possibility that we will stay up for a 6th Season in The Premiership.
Either way the poster raises excellent points, which i’ve Seen Rudi post a few times about the “out of contract” players and the “loanees “.
Those decisions do need to be finalised ASAP.

We're Crystal Palace. We make up the numbers in this division along with 12 others. We're gonna get relegated in the foreseeable future no matter what.

In other news, we are all going to die, as are all our loved ones, and in the fullness of time the sun will burn out, destroying all life on earth.

Indeed, a continuation of our current form should see us 'Over the line' but we might not be able to sustain this.As you mentioned, a couple of our signings haven't played recently (Since Nov & Dec) and if we have further injuries, these players are called upon and found wanting, there will be an almighty outcry amongst our supporters about our transfer activity.

As I have mentioned, WBA,Brighton, Newcastle,Swansea have all signed players who will either play in the first team straight away or will be challenging for a place based on their previous experience.Don't think ours are in that category.

If you can furnish evidence to prove that we only approached at the 11th hour then you will win this mini argument. If not, then you will not.

My guess: we try to do business under the radar given the number of poaches we suffer. I suspect Dougie et al have been forced to sweat for months waiting to see if the hoped linked deal will come off at Brondby. For no fault of our own it did not.

It was widely reported that we were still after and bidding for Guaita on deadline day. Ronnow came about when we couldn’t get him, and it was simply too late for Brøndby to get a replacement.

Apparently we did exactly the same thing to the same club and player in the August transfer window with exactly the same result so it appears that we don't learn from our mistakes

I think it was as simple as he was our second choice and when it became apparent that Guaita wasn't going to get over the line in this window we turned our attention to Ronnow but too late. To be honest buying both wouldn't be a bad shout but it may be that they thought Amadou was going to go through and money was an issue, so they were juggling balls and unfortunately dropped them!
