I believe I recall Roy saying on a prematch interview in December that we needed 4 players, especially a goal keeper and a forward - and he said "they all have to be improvements over the current squad to raise the bar" and they all have to hit the ground running, or words to that effect. SO, we got one out of four ..... 25% ... some folks should not be getting their year end performance bonuses then, as they didn't hit the stated objectives ????

This may not have been a great transfer window, but it's been reasonable. (B- in Merson's opinion)
We were primarily looking to sign a keeper & a striker. Injuries required a CB & CMF to be added to the list.
So now the window has closed we'll have to make do with 2 keepers until the summer when we get what appears to be a quality keeper on a Bosman. We've also signed a CB, a box to box MF & a striker without it seems eating into next summer's transfer budget.
The signings look promising to me, and I'm certainly not going to prejudge either them (or the guys that signed them) until I've seen them play.
I'm grateful to have someone like SP in charge of our club. As Simon Jordan said, Be Careful What You Wish For.

If he's wanting to rip the arse out of every deal how is that competent?

You mean he knows how to do it but doesn't have the right mindset or attitude, which may be the case, but either way it means he's not the right person.

How do you know the signings aren't an improvement? Time will tell. They may not be able to hit the ground running, but it's surely an unreasonable ask (if indeed Roy did ask it) to require 4 quality players in match-ready condition at today's prices.

If they can't hit the ground running with about 13 games left, then.... it's a possible 9 games to do the business - providing no injuries..

I honestly expected a premier league standard, fit, experienced striker and keeper were the bare essentials. We didn't do that.

Just seems Parish is banking on there being 3 worse teams than us.

My concern would be the apparent lack of urgency coupled with multiple rumours of last minute approaches to clubs on deadline day. It doesn't sound as though we had a plan or had identified the players we wanted with the earnest intention of getting them in? At the end of the transfer window it was case of scraping the barrel. Having said that, we have three new players who I'm sure will do their best for us. I hope it is enough.

Roy said: “They were signed to give us more cover and more help, because with Mamadou Sakho back fit and the other two centre backs playing so well, it will take a while for Jaroslaw [Jach] to get in front of those three.”

Keeper aside, sounds like he got what he wanted judging by what he also said about Sørloth.

Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five!

Big money signings don't always mean instant success,
ie Tosun is not ready as he is having problems adapting to the PL according to Big Sam.

Of course and as I’ve said before I feel fortunate that we’ve a proper fan and successful businessman running the club. But the brinkmanship and number of times players have apparently turned up in hotels, at the club’s HQ etc last day of the window and we’ve fvcked the likes of Brondby around is not great. All this and still serious gaps in the squad.

No complaints re the players we’ve brought in. More the gaps.

Spot on, some on here don't seem to get that,a big name and fee doesn't mean they are guaranteed to click straight away.
