While clearly useful, is there not a little too much emphasis on the significance of premier league experience? There must be enough performance data available to compare new signings with and without premier league experience. They’ve had long enough to look at him. I have a feeling they’ve done their homework but time will tell!

Have often wondered about this. Look at Milivojevic. Riedewald doesn't seem to be doing too badly either. OTOH Adebayor had PL experience coming out of his ears and was more or less useless.

I know they’re proven players elsewhere but Laporte, Aubameyang, Palmieri, Tosun & Carillo are all players with no premier league experience. A serious amount of cash exchanged hands to bring all of them in & it’s not like every superstar that’s arrived in the EPL has made it big.

If Sørloth could score as many goals as Tosun we’ve saved ourselves £20m and got a real asset on our hands. In fact, if you equate goals to cost, he could score 30% of the goals Tosun does & still be seen as good value!

Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five!

How about everyone just lets the lad settle in and show us over time what he's like. Rather than argue over knowing if he's A. Gonna be a star or B a flop.

I dont think that having experience similar to PL is all that counts, for example the way that Vardy rose from the ranks and Mahrez was only a few hundred thousand from the french league.
Only time and hindsight will tell what we've actually got

sorloft and benteke have the making of a top front 2 if there get the chance to pair up and a partnership that could get much needed goals from now to the end of season hopefully

I thought similar but then he does seem to attack the space &/or buy himself a yard or two. This compilation seems to give a better overview of how he plays & I'm both surprised & pleased with what I saw:

Yes better video. He's being challenged for those. Maybe not as much as in the prem but he's a big, strong boy so he has potential to hold off and battle CBs in this league.

In order for a goal to come from a cross then header there are so many factors that have to take place - beating the first man, beating the defender marking Benteke, being at a height that allows Benteke to direct it towards goal. My point is Benteke drifts back post and rely's far too much on the cross being inch perfect rather than making that extra movement that allows for wilf or andros to pick him out easier.

Hopefully with Sorloth and his movement it will give not just our wingers but our midfielders more options when attacking as now their first thought doesn't have to be - 'put it out wide'.

Agree. Benteke at the back post with 6 defenders before it can get to him. Too often.

I really hope that the new additions can gel and keep up with life in the PL we're 4 points off the bottom 3 as many already no and im not saying we will go down but it's just to close in the bottom 10 and results don't go our way and we slip up then things could get out of hand very quickly we've got to fight for a win from the remaining matches left to play or risk championship football next season and i don't think roy will stay around if it happens

Enough with the Murray nostalgia........he is a crook anyway..not a role model.

Benteke might be better at assisting Sorloth. I had noticed he was trying to assist lately....and he would also benefit having another big guy around to take the pressure off.
