As many have mentioned in the past, we mainly play with one strike up top and therefore it would be difficult to bring someone in that’s going to play second fiddle to Benteke. All the strikers we were linked with don’t have Premier League experience really, therefore the Sørloth transfer could be shrewd business

Sorry to be a naysayer, but how can Rakip make a long-term impression if he is on loan with us until the end of the season. Or did we manage to pull of a right to buy agreement? I though he had joined Benfica from Malmo in December, but for some reason couldn't play for them until next season.

I've an idea there's an option to buy. Being Malmo, he thinks the sun shines out of Roy, so if he does well, he might well prove longer term. These are exactly the sort of signings I started hoping for when Dougie cam back; bags of potential, points to make and on nobody's radar. COYP

Hard to make an impression as a striker fed on scraps. I suspect he will polarise opinion.

With our pretty rich crop of CB, I suspect it might be a while before we see Jach play in any capacity.

Rakip might be introduced earlier from the bench in RLC's absence.

All complete pub chat guess work of course as I am not sufficiently informed to make any realistic prediciton on any of them. Subject to that caveat, I will say that the player to make the biggest long-term impression on this club will be Rakip. I just think he is a prodigious talent who will be allowed to bed in under the radar.

He needs to make an impression a bit quicker than that as he's a loan signing.

For all our sakes let's hope they prove shrewd acquisitions.Let's NOT dismiss them without seeing them perform.I understand both Rakip and Sorloth haven't played for a while so they might not 'Hit the ground running' and will need time to settle in accordingly we might need to be patient with them.

Exactly.

And where exactly did you get that idea from?

Where did you get that understanding from, because it's certainly not what the club have said?

Hang on, hold up, I am definitely not ITK and have never claimed to be.

I know it is dangerous, but I read it in the media explaining why the deal made sense. You will recall there was a great deal of head scratching about the rational behind the loan.

That is the total extent of my "understanding". If that report was horse sh1t then I retract my opinion; and can see that he was only hired as cover given RLC's long term injury.

Was looking at our squad and likely first team last night, it struck me that we have a very international one. Probably noticed it more as the players each had their home country flag next to their name. Very few English players - Dann, Tomkins, Townsend, Kelly, Ward - have I missed anyone? This isn't a criticism merely an observation - possibly our most international squad ever.

Seems a long time since Palace were breaking new ground in signing Borge Thorup.

Of course it's possible, but I cannot see any reason there would be an option to buy on Rakip. Benfica buy and develop young players. They have a surplus of midfielders right now so this is a stopgap solution.

I think they are planning to sell at least one of Pizzi or Lubo Fejsa come the summer window and are restocking the midfield cuboard now.

Always planning a window or two ahead...imagine that.
